Wow, an early greenlight? Nice.

Let's do this!

As much as I want to Caps to win, I just don't see that happening after the crushing, demoralizing Monday game

2012-05-09 10:12:29 AM
The Flyers are gone, and the Caps are next.

It's gonna be a good day, Tater.

I figured I'd drop in and say "well done" to the Devils. They completely outplayed the Flyers.

/Disappointed Flyers fan.

A green thread already? Well damn I had a great one (I thought) all ready to go later on once we got closer:

A fully qualified 'Miss a day, miss a lot' happened again last night. Instead of the usual NSFW intermission entertainment a whole new brand of fun was found. Oh yeah, there was a hockey game too. Tonight's game may have a few comments as well. Puck drops at 7:30 Eastern

Ah well, it isn't to be. Congrats all on allllllmost reaching 1500 (1477 when I checked it a few minutes ago), when I had to bail at 1k I thought it was completely out of reach. Many thanks to 9beers (it was him wasn't it?) who came up with the great idea.

Oh yeah hockey, that is the reason that we're here isn't it? I hope that the Caps win only because I want to see a Game 7. If not then I'm perfectly fine with the Rags moving on. Regardless there's still great hockey to be seen in the coming weeks.

Absolutely, it was his idea, and it turned out to be an extremely fun thread. I am hoping that more people participate in the festivities in tonight's thread. There was hardly ever a dull moment last night.

Tomorrow will be the first night in a month without a playoff game. While my Red Wings exited early, I have been watching a game or two a night almost religiously. I don't know what I'm going to do with the free time.

2012-05-09 10:44:07 AM
My button on my remote control has smoke pouring from it lately due to switching between the Mets games and Rangers games. I've been pretty happy lately.

I've got the Apr 26, 1997 RW/Avs game here if you want to borrow it. That's always good for a rewatch. I may watch one of the '07 Finals myself (or one of the '03 1st round sweep of the RWs, those are always great...).

Now there's an idea. Tomorrow night everyone watch one of their favorite games & fill the thread with descriptions of what's going on. 20-30 different games going on at once (along with the live commentary from the Cat's Meow) would make for an epic surrealistic thread. Hmmm, I'll have to toss that idea out once the game starts & the regulars arrive, it could be a lot of fun.

I think this explains the quality (or lack there-of) singers last night at the Cat's Meow.

Cat's Meow Facebook:The Cats Meow would like to welcome the International CTIA Wireless convention this week! Pandora Radio, AT&T, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, Spotify, Electronic Arts, Mozilla Firefox and Visa, as well as a closing keynote by President Bill Clinton. All are welcome to enjoy what New Orleans and Cats Meow has to offer (including you, Mr. President... Don't worry, we won't tell Hillary!)

DAY TWENTY-NINE
7:30, NBCS: NYR @ WAS [Game 6, 3-2]

Some notes on the schedule coming up. Because NBC airs THE PLAYERS (yes, the name of the tournament is legally in all-caps), no NBC game this weekend either day. So Game 7 if it happens is Saturday 7:30, NBCSN.
The Lakers and Clippers are both likely to win their series and be the away team in their Round 2 series. That means they could be hosting four straight days around 5/18-5/21. It is possible for Staples Center to host hockey in the afternoon and basketball at night on the weekend, or I suppose two basketball games in one day.
Farking horses next Saturday mean we might not get any NBC game that day. The NBC broadcast window is at 1:00pm ET, and they wouldn't be crazy enough to put an LA game on then, even pushing back to 2pm ET = 11am PT. The Devils are likely to be the away team in the East, and they can't host then because the New York Liberty are scheduled to play at Prudential at 4pm. If the Caps win the next two, they'd be the away team, and Washington's WNBA team is at the Verizon Center at 7pm! I'd expect some sort of begging from the NHL to the NBA to move the Liberty game, since it's supposed to be on NBA TV, but I don't know how their negotiations this time of year work out.

If Rangers win tonight, I expect the series to start as follows
West: @PHX Sat-Mon, @LA Thu-Sat
East: @NYR Sun-Tue, @NJ Fri-Sun

If Rangers win in 7, I expect the series to start like this
West: @PHX Sun-Tue, @LA Thu-Sat
East: @NYR Mon-Wed, @NJ Fri-Sun

If Capitals win in 7, I expect the series to start like this
West: @PHX Sun-Tue, @LA Fri-Sun
East: @NJ Mon-Thu, @WAS Sat-Mon

Fact: the Blues were originally expected to go to someone else but he bailed a few months ago. That same guy was the guy expected to buy the Coyotes last year but it was scuttled by overzealous lawyers.

/Yes, that would be Matthew Hulsizer.

This year's playoffs is way better than last year's/ I'm all out of teams to root against and the 2nd round isn't even over:

Red Wangs
Canucks
Sharks
Bruins
Flyers

Guess I'll root for a LA-NY final. Go Hockey!

O Capital! my Capital! I fear the trip is done;
The team has weathered every rack, the prize we sought not won;
The golf is near, the boos I hear, the people all grumbling,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and sinking:
But O heart! heart! heart!
O the bleeding drops of red,
Where on the ice my Capitals lie,
Fallen cold and dead.

F'in choking dogs.

LETS GO CAPS!

When presented with the option of the Rangers or a team coached by the guy who did this...sorry, Pierre. But I don't see the Caps coming back from Game 5. That had to register as a solid Stomach Punch in Bill Simmons' levels of losing.

If it is indeed a Rangers-Devlis ECF...that's just not cool. Easy 15-minute train commute for everyone involved though.

Once again I am sorry I couldn't follow the thread last night - was out, just like I will be an hour from now. Congrats to the Devils and their fans - they'll be a tough competitor against whoever wins tonight (hopefully the Rangers).

I can't explain it, but I feel a little bad for the Flyers - they had such a great run upsetting the Penguins. Then again, when you give up as many goals per game as they were, it's hard to expect them to keep winning.

I look forward to catching up with this thread when I get home later! GO RANGERS!

ytterbium: mainstreet62: Time Traveling Bunnies: I left shortly after off-key Adele and Dixie Chix last night. I deeply regret it.

The one who looked like she ate Adele? Someone called her "fat chick terducken".

That was glorious, as that comment, repeated by myself out loud to a wife who was having a tough week, started a chain of events that led to sex.

And here I was feeling all shameful about that comment...

I'm glad I inadvertently helped you and you and your wife!

Sounds like the Blues are in good hands, maybe we'll see them go further next year.

Very true, but in a different way - he might be one of the Auburn graduates celebrating that the host mentioned earlier. In which case, obviously, feel free to pass out in one of the city's finest gutters as soon as possible.
