I'm as excited as the next guy for the next installment of this series, but there's one thing it doesn't have that makes me just giddy for TDKR over any other movie right now - and that's the fact that we don't know who's going to win between Bane and Batman.

Iron Man, Hulk, Thor, and Cap will never die in this series. Sooner or later, that's going to get old. I assume by Avengers 3, we're going to be sick of these characters.

If Whedon (or whoever directs the next one) kills off one of the main characters, it's the best thing that could happen.

Dr. Horrible: Slaves2Darkness: I'm only interested if Joss Whedon is directing it.

I dunno man, he's pretty busy these days teaching people how to use the bathroom correctly (some brief NSFW language).

And BritAndNick are in Much Ado About Nothing, a movie Whedon made, at home, between finishing shooting Avengers and editing Avengers. Seriously this is a guy who does not know the meaning of the word Vacation.

Heh, I haven't seen the movie yet and had no idea there was actually any shawarma in it...I just love shawarma.

I'm glad i was ambiguous enough to not spoil anything. There is schwarma related humor, that makes you crave delicious schwarma.

I had to look it up. In the UK its called a kebab. And it is delicious with hot chili sauce and raw green chilies. It is also about 3000 calories a serving....

You fool! Hulk wins, Hulk always smashes his way to a win. Even when the "Heros" of Earth get tired of a little destruction when he is around, and that they just can't get insurance on the Avengers mansion with him as a member, and banish him to another planet Hulk still wins.

They don't have to die. The Avengers are known for quitting, moving out west, leaving Earth entirely, etc. It's not hard to imagine that Cap is forced to team up with weaker-than-Thor&Hulk heroes to fight even stronger enemies in A2. Or that Fury assembles a team with specialized skills (Ray Park is perfect for untalkative Moon Knight - just be Snake Eyes in a white suit) to infiltrate a reborn Hydra.

/I bet we'll see Tigra in movie 3 or 4, if Whedon or Tarantino are involved. You gotcher barefoot girl, super acrobatic, plus she's a draw for the Furry community.

There's a big Lebenese community here in the Peoria, IL area. One of the Lebenese families owns restaurants, but they call the spit-roasted meat gyros like the Greeks do. It's pretty good. I'm intrigued by the prospects of a Turkish version, as I am with all things Turkish.

2012-05-09 10:18:48 AM

Earpj: From a random Google search:
Gyro is the Greek word, Doner is the Turkish word and Schwarma is the Arabic word. They all describe the same preparation: some kind of meat spit roasted. The type of meat depends on the region, for example pork is the favorite in Greece, but you won't find pork Doner or Schwarma. Lamb, beef and chicken are common across all 3. I know it seems confusing but if you just think about it as ways to describe the same meat preparation in different languages then its easier. Also, some gyro/schwarma/doner is with ground meat but this is usually the inferior stuff, look for the real stuff which is spit roasted chunks of meat. If you are looking for pork or chicken, BZ Grill in Astoria is amazing.

I adore Doners, so I would adore schwarma.

Just don't ask what kind of meat is in the Donner kebab.

/Too soon?

I think maybe my point is they should lose at the end of Avengers 2. Kind of like The Empire Strikes Back. They don't necessarily have to die, but end on a down note, and the audience will consider it the greatest movie in the franchise.

Thanos is no Darth Vader though.....no one is.

I really thought that the Infinity Gauntlet was shown in Odin's "Warehouse o' Weapons™" in Thor.

If Loki's sceptre is using the Mind Gem, then those glowy bits in the Thor scene are fake gems. Which means the Soul Gem is also out loose. Hopefully we see where it is in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Odin's "Warehouse o' Weapons™" has a revolving door on it. I'm sure Thanos won't have a problem getting his hands on it.

Oh certainly, I was just thinking that if they established that Odin has it (and that it seems to be missing the Mind Gem) then it explains why Thanos needed to use the Skrulls for the attack on Earth. He didn't have his favorite toy, and couldn't kick ass like he wanted to.

I hope that the Gauntlet features prominently.

I was thinking that if they are going to have Thanos as the main villain in Avengers 2 then it would be awesome if they had a cameo by Squirrel Girl. But then I realized that if Squirrel Girl appeared they wouldn't need the rest of the Avengers and the movie would only last six minutes long. But it would be an awesome six minutes of squirrels beating the crap out of Thanos and his minions.

You know, by the way Fury was acting, I honestly thought Phase 2 would have something to do with Ultron.

I wouldn't be surprised to see that the end credit scene of Thor 2 doesn't involve the theft in some way.

Or that be the full-on ending. The whole movie could either be an assault on Asgard culminating in the Gauntlet being stolen, or Thanos chasing down the rest of the scattered Gems with Thor trying to stop him. The end credit scenes could set up Avengers 2 facing Thanos *with* the fully loaded Gauntlet.

While it's really impressive, you're somewhat misguided. Remember the movie has opened in more than half the world already. It's been out for two weeks here in my country. Movies usually open in the US, then trickle down to the other countries and start accumulating the money. Avengers opened in more than 30 countries two weeks ago so it already made the big money there. from now on it's diminishing returns.

It'll get 1 billion easy though. I predict 1.6 billions.

They signed Ruffalo to a 6 movie deal at least one of them will be a solo Hulk movie but no set date.

Then I doubt it will be any good. I stand by my position Ruffalo can't carry his own movie. Though I thought Thor was pretty bad and have no hope the second one will be any better. That actor is just not good solo. He was okay in The Avengers.

I hope you're wrong. Ruffalo had the best characterization of Banner we've seen so far. He was weasley, scared, smart, anxious and prone to outburst. In short, the bubbling cauldron of emotions that Banner is supposed to be.

Ultron was originally designed by Pym, iirc. Would make a good villain when they finally need to start rotating the membership, and it'd be a particularly good way to work Wasp into the arc (assuming they use something like her original backstory rather than the mutant version).

I thought it was that his subconscious always forces him to make some fatal flaw, some omission in an otherwise perfect plan that allows him to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Or something like that.

So.....is Avengers the sequel to Captain America, because of Fury, which was a sequel to Thor, because of Coulson, which was a sequel to Iron Man 2, which was a sequel to Incredible Hulk because of Stark, which was a sequel to Iron Man?
Or are they considered separate?

2012-05-09 11:12:15 AM

mekki: I just want Coulson back. It's a Superhero franchise, people coming back from the dead isn't that far fetched.

Someone came up with the theory that Coulson wasn't Human but actually the Vision. Coulson had no blood family, no wife/husband or kids. His background besides being an adorable fanboy and a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent is unknown. And the fact that Fury said, "They took my one good eye" could be a hint to Coulson was/is the "Vision" as well as Fury saying that "Coulson is down" rather than "dead." could mean that Coulson is not a flesh and blood Human.

Okay, I have my fingers cross because this is Whedon and I can see him doing this.

I knew Coulson was going to be killed as soon as Pepper Potts said his first name. He's been in 2 previous movies without it (that I know of). He might as well just be a week shy of retirement. It's a death sentence for a secondary character to be more fully fleshed out and sympathetic. It's an obvious emotional hook for the main characters and the audience.
