(MSNBC)   Jonah Goldberg would like you to know that when he'd said on his website he'd been nominated for two Pulitzers, what he really meant was that he'd been nominated for zero Pulitzers, and sorry if that caused any confusion   (openchannel.msnbc.msn.com) divider line 45

Sounds familiar...
Well, it isn't just that Bill O'Reilly claims he won a couple of Peabody Awards. Whenever he was asked about Inside Edition and it being sort of a tabloid show, O'Reilly would indignantly say that they had won two Peabody Awards. Who says we're a tabloid show? And O'Reilly would offer as proof the Peabody Awards that Inside Edition had supposedly won. And he did this on a number of occasions. I got through watching him once on C-SPAN and then went researching on Nexis. I just followed it up because I couldn't believe that Inside Edition had won a Peabody. And I did the research. And, of course, they hadn't won any Peabody Award. I thought I would call O'Reilly, and that way he could stop saying the wrong thing, which any journalist would be embarrassed about. Instead of being grateful that I had called him, he just got angry. Well it turns out that Inside Edition had won a "Polk" Award a year after he left. And so he got very, very angry and said, "Go ahead! go after me, Al." And so I just thought that it'd be fun to do.

When Goldberg's "Liberal Fascism" came out in January 2008, his employer National Review Online announced that Tribune Media Services, which carries Goldberg's opinion columns, had "nominated" Goldberg for a Pulitzer in commentary.

The liberal blog Daily Kos then pointed out that the Tribune doesn't choose Pulitzer nominees, writing about "Goldberg's faux Pulitzer."

...

Goldberg told msnbc.com on Tuesday that he didn't recall any of this. "In all honesty, I don't recall ever being 'called' on this."

Which would probably explain why he went ahead and tried it again.

Jonah Goldberg lying?

It's a day ending in a Y.

Jonah Goldberg having to correct a lie publicly?

*breaks open the good coffee*

Life is good.

Raises a mug of fine brew in honor of Goldberg's obvious lack of honor indicated by his lying about honors he never got.

/I knew a girl who offered her honor.
//So I honored her offer.
///All night long it went like that.
////On her. Off her. On her. Off her. On her. Off her.

What?

lies are not the problem. The real problem is unfairly using truths/cliches. A "Tyranny of Cliches" is about how Liberals are cruelly winning the battle of ideas by pompously using the truth. Conservatives are not too elitist to lie to prove they are right.

Although I must admit, he ended up with a better book cover because of it.

His publisher, Penguin Group (USA), said the error was unintentional and it would remove the Pulitzer word from his book jacket when it's time for the first reprint, "just like any other innocent mistake brought to our attention."

Sorry, but that's not an "innocent mistake". A typo is an "innocent mistake". Paragraph misalignment is an "innocent mistake". Deliberately writing out an entire sentence which should never have been created in the first place is not a mistake.

That we live in a civilization that allows single-digit IQ lying sacks of worthless rhino feces like Jonah Goldberg to have a platform to spout his stupidity and lies is truly depressing. I'm all for free speech, but it would be nice if the collective intelligence of this country could be raised just enough so that 99% of the people would hear Goldberg say something and immediately respond with "Shut up, you lying, disingenuous retard."

And you can add Sean Hannity to that list, too.

So I was ready to believe you and did some Pulitzer award nominated research (by which I mean skimming the first page of results of a Google query) and it seems that the truth is much crueler.

He seems to have this weird idea that government is Market A (labeled "Republicans") and Market B (labeled "Democrats") and that it's the citizen's job as consumers to buy from the market of their liking after they get done with their advertising campaigns. However, Market B are cheaters for refusing to acknowledge that this is the way it works and his critics are sneaky bastards for attempting to be diplomatic with him rather than just punching him in the face like they ought to.

What Mr. Goldberg fails to realize is that "ideologue" is a euphemism for "crackpot asshole", Bin Laden was in fact a "Freedom Fighter" before he was a "terrorist", and that no one likes to argue with a nitwit.

I am surprised the Pulitzer people don't litigate stuff like this. I doubt it would be that difficult for the courts to figure out what percentage of the books sales were influenced by the improper use of the Pulitzer name.

I don't think anyone even remotely related to the Pullitzer would go anywhere near his books. Maybe that's what Goldberg was hoping for!

I heard this douchebag interviewed recently on NPR and wanted to jump through the radio and strangle the host (Neal Conen, I believe). This dick is bleating on about how liberals lie, and not one single question is raised about his repeated documented lies in his career.

In a way, I kind of wish NPR would cut all Fed funding, so they could actually be journalists again.

Goldberg said he hadn't meant to mislead anyone and removed the Pulitzer claim from his bio at National Review Online. (Here's the page before and now.) And he added, "I never put it in the bio in the first place."

Suuuure you didn't pal. Just like I never meant to accidentally cop a feel on my girlfriend back in high school when we were watching a movie on her couch. Of course I wound up getting to second base, whereas you got caught(once again) being the lying dick you are.

lying liars can tell the truth about liberals lying; the claim that liberals lie should fall or stand on the merits of the charge, based on evidence, and not on an ad hominem attack on a douchbag
