(EITB)   A mass brawl forced the abandonment of a crucial Romanian league derby. The goalkeeper ran after the scorer as he celebrated and pushed him to the ground. And everything started there   (eitb.com) divider line 16

Didn't see the chase part, but you can see the goalie knock him down here: Penalty shot is at :25, and the fight is right around the :40 mark

"CFR's coach Ioan And one refused to allow his players back on to the pitch because of concerns for their safety."

That's a strange name for a coach.

That's just stupid right there. The scorer just runs to his fans and celebrates, doesn't taunt the GK or anything. You can see the GK's teammate pushing him away acting like "WTF ARE YOU DOIN'?!?!"

He'll probably get suspended for it; then again, given the reputation for the league, don't be suprised if the GK starts next game.

They suspended the whole game over that???

Over here in America, we just call that "Old Time Hockey." Nothing like a good line-brawl to spice up a game. Especially when the goalies get involved.

The green laser pointers reflecting off the guy's face right before he took the shot must have been fun as well

This is the same country where a guy was transferred to another team for 15 kg's of sausage.

The difference is that when a goalie brawl erupts in hockey, nobody knows if the game continued afterward because nobody was watching to begin with.

http://www.chron.com/sports/rockets/article/China-s-top-big-men-Yi-Ya o -set-to-clash-1806815.php

Though ratings estimates in China are difficult and vary widely, today's game is said to be certain to draw 150 million viewers and could reach 250 million. CCTV-5 alone is available in 210 million households.

Yao's first game against Shaquille O'Neal in 2002 drew an estimated audience of 220 million and the largest cable television ratings in the United States for a regular-season game since the 1995 comeback of Magic Johnson.

"I heard there were close to 200 million people that watched," Yao said. "But come on, in our country, we have (1.3) billion. That's still a small part of it."

Yi's first televised NBA game drew an audience estimated at 100 million, but it went up against a Rockets game that was available on other regional cable networks.

When the Indianapolis Colts played the New England Patriots last Sunday, the average audience during the game was 33.8 million; 66.4 million saw at least a six-minute portion.

The average audience for Super Bowl XLI was 93 million, with 139.8 million seeing at least six minutes. There have been estimates Super Bowls draw a global audience of roughly 150 million.

The audience for tonight's Rockets game, starting on a Saturday morning in China, could exceed the Super Bowl, Colts-Patriots game and the Friday ESPN NBA games combined.

Oops.

Don't go down this road. The NBA ratings still destroy NHL ratings. But feel better, the NHL beats the MLS and (barely) European soccer.

At least no deaths this time around... I remember an incident in the late 90s or early 2000s where a bus of supporters of the visiting team was attacked and resulted in quite a few deaths.

Did you notice the shirtless guy with the scarf grabbing his crotch in the crowd shot (top right side) right before you see the GK standing over the player?

Stay classy Romania.
