Sounds like he was trying to teach her how to hold his bat.

I would have gone with "spending some time in the minors" but this is also acceptable.

FTA: "He was a career .212 hitter, in stints with the Bombers, Indians, White Sox, Angels and Royals."

The Yankees are only 20% responsible for this asshat, thanks.

Damn East Coast bias! He played fewer games for the Yankees than he did for any of his other teams. Let's make sure Cleveland gets its due here.

89 games in two seasons with the Yankees vs. 230 games the next two seasons with Cleveland. Subby is either a Cleveland "sports" fan, or a Yankees organization hater.

/Still doesn't make what he did any better, but this is the sports tab
//Yet every other sports page is 80% off the field stories. Go Figure.

Take it easy-- the article refers to him as a former Yankee-- probably because it's a NY paper.

Just like Boston.com's lede for the Seau death was calling him a former Patriots linebacker.

That makes sense. There should be some sort of a journalistic norm for referring to a player who never played more than two seasons at a time for the same organization. Can't really call Torres a journeyman because his career was so short, but unless they did something noteworthy with a team (i.e. played the majority of their career there, or the crowning achievement of their career happened on that team) couldn't they just be reported as "former Major League player"?

[checks Angels stats] Damn, 89 games for the Yankees over two seasons, 178 for the Angels in 1976 and 1977, he was a starter in 1976. Damn.

/Shakes fist at Rusty Torres

Of for farks sake! First result in Google News when I typed in Chad Curtis?

Chad Curtis, Former Angels Outfielder, Accused of Inappropriate Touching of Girl Students

Let's see: Rusty Torres + Chad Curtis (Angels: 1992-1994) + Luis Polonio boinking a 15-year old (Angels: 1990-1993) + Jarrod Washburn (allegedly) = what the fark is wrong with the Angels? I guess being a God Squader didn't help Chad Curtis.

/Innocent until blah blah blah

I was living in NYC back when that happened, I remember Don Imus on WFAN saying Polonia should have known something was wrong when the girl went to take her vitamins and they were shaped like Fred Flintstone.
