Does this put the seat in play for the Dems? That'd be hilarious

Isn't that what killed any chances Huntsmann had for the Republican nomination?

saintstryfe: These farkers are gonna lose the republicans the senate.

We can only hope.

They might have just lost Indiana for the Presidential election too. If Democrats are motivated to beat the Tea Party challenger and moderate Republicans are disgusted, this could push Obama over the edge, which had previously looked unlikely...

Rex_Everything: Does this put the seat in play for the Dems? That'd be hilarious

I think it might go that way, yes. to be honest, i'm not sure. But if nothing else, the tea baggers just wiped out a sitting member of the GOP who had some pretty massive levels of seniority. And in the US Senate, seniority is king.

2012-05-08 08:08:35 PM
I don't really follow politics... Is this a big deal? Is the dude who lost his seat really powerful or something?

Teabagger Frankenstein just through GOP in river.

I admit it, I snorted. +1 subby.

I just hope that this guy loses in the general election - what we don't need is another Teabagger in power.

ongbok: Isn't that what killed any chances Huntsmann had for the Republican nomination?

No, the problem with Huntsmann was that he wasn't a raving lunatic. That is a big no no for the teaparty.

Did anyone else think for a split second that Dick Cheney was assassinated by a Jared Loughner type idiot?

I did.

Doktor_Zhivago: Newsflash. Really? Teatard beats repubtard. Who gives a shiat.

It's actually quite a bit telling, actually. People often talk about "the polarization of politics", but it's lead by the GOP which is lead by the tea party, which was created by the GOP.
It's a train wreck inside of an erupting volcano during an earthquake, and it's bad for the country but good for short-term entertainment.

david_gaithersburg: Great to see average joes working to change the system instead of camping and crying.

I agree! a couple/few more victories like this one and the GOP will virtually ensure a Democratic party lock on Congress AND the white house by the end of 2014.

Rex_Everything: Does this put the seat in play for the Dems? That'd be hilarious.

According to TFA, their Democratic candidate might as well be Republican.

Damn, that state is completely boned.

Lugar might be a shiat sandwich, but Mourdock sounds like a shiat sandwich with an extra side of shiat.

2012-05-08 08:09:55 PM
Can't say I'm surprised, or honestly that I'm not happy the seat is now in play, but seriously IN/TP: you done farked up.

MrEricSir: "News Flash"? Really?

Apparently one senator not being re-elected is big news. Maybe because its Indiana or something?

saintstryfe: These farkers are gonna lose the republicans the senate.

The republicans already lost the senate years ago. If you mean it's going to lose Lugar's seat to the dems, yes it will, which is good news indeed.

Sad to see the Republicans continuing down the path of insanity. On the other hand, they keep dragging the Democrats further to the right like they have been, it could make room for a viable, actual leftist party in America. Sure, I have a better chance of winning the lottery while simultaneously being hit by lightning during a plane crash while the Padres win the World Series, but it could happen.

2012-05-08 08:11:09 PM
Sooo, who thought something happened to Dick Cheney?
