(Atlanta Journal Constitution)   The Catholic League attempts to bully sponsors of The Daily Show for the show's use of "vagina mangers" to express a point. Kellogg responds by "telling Christians to shove it", presumably right in the vagina manger   (blogs.ajc.com) divider line 372

GRRRRRRRRRRRREAT response.

2012-05-08 08:18:22 PM
I'm gonna go buy some corn flakes just for that.

And I mean the great big giant family size box, not one of those little one serving deals. Anybody who tells Bill Donohue to go get stuffed deserves my business.

In a statement, the Catholic civil rights group called the segment "the most vulgar expression of hate speech ever aired on television."

Catholics are wont to resort to hyperbole. Ric Romero gives us his report at 11.

Either that or they don't watch much TV.

I'm gonna start building nativity scenes with Mary in the act of giving birth. Capturing that moment of Jesus' first crowning would humanize the story so people could really connect.

2012-05-08 09:11:41 PM
Oh, you want an apology? As a woman, so do I.

2012-05-08 09:45:43 PM
"The Catholic League" is basically one angry jackass with a fax machine. Bill Donahoe gets way more attention than he deserves.

I did a drawing of this image and made christmas cards out of it one year. It was a big hit.

You said vagina manger twice.

2012-05-09 12:22:12 AM
Aw cripes, where am I going to store all of those frosted flakes?

Well Played Kellogg, well played.

2012-05-09 12:22:22 AM
Well, I'm going to eat less Kellogs just because of this.

Whoops , forgot, I get the store brand since it's the same stuff but much cheaper.

So how do I show my outrage now?

2012-05-09 12:22:56 AM
Dear Kellogg's, I'm not a big fan of cereal, but I will buy some of yours in support of your position.

A college friend from a very Catholic Belfast family (his sister is a nun) once sent his mother a Xmas card with a cartoon nativity scene on the front - the wording inside was "Oh Joseph! That was immaculate!"

/ she didn't speak to him for a month
// people get very sensitive about their imaginary sky fairies

In other news, buy Kellogg stock.

"In other words, Kellogg's is telling Christians to shove it," Donohue said in a statement. "But they made a mistake... We are also calling for a national boycott of all Kellogg's cereals."

Lol
"I'll show you!!! I'll show all of you!!!"

Wow! Kellogg has come a long way baby.

"Vagina manger" is French for "eating vagina".

FTA: In a statement, the Catholic civil rights group called the segment "the most vulgar expression of hate speech ever aired on television."

This statement implies that a) Catholics are somehow being oppressed enough to need a civil rights group and b) the Catholic League is more than one person.

Not over this, but because wheat is evil, corn is empty calories, I dont trust anyone who plants oats, and rice... well rice is okay, but the thought of those little prancy mascots popping and crackling in my mouth? I don't thnk so!

Was this "vagina manger" thing supposed to be funny? Maybe I need to watch the whole thung.

Jon Stewart grows less funny every day, and more and more just another voice of shrill irrationality from the far left.

As a member of the catholic church, only have this to say :

That's stupid. Don't fall into the trap of idolotry.

The people involved are much more important than a bit of plastic/wood/whatever.

and I mean Stewart, the women, the babies and then Men.

If you think he can really 'offend' God by appealing to our reason, then you need to read more C.S. Lewis.

Though, I think I'll take it a step further and start flooding local catholic soup kitchens with Kellogg's products.

I can't say I agree with the term "bullying" here when people of my political persuasion so openly celebrated sponsors being encouraged to leave Limbaugh (including me).
They're doing the same thing "we" did, however backwards and idiotic their stances are.

'Far left' = 'Noticing the growing insanity of the far right', apparently.

So Delta pulls their ads "following fallout from the host's reference to a controversial Nativity scene as a 'vagina manger,'" but in the middle of the story, a Delta spokesperson specifies that the ad change is not due to any opinions expressed by the show.

Kellogg's didn't tell anyone to shove it. They just said that they're not making any changes because "Consumers speak most loudly when they vote with their remote control and change the channel or turn off the TV if a program does not fit their personal criteria," which translates to "We're not changing anything because your group's advocacy campaign hasn't affected our bottom line at all."

So the takeaway here seems to be that Catholics are prone to hyperbole and premature butthurt, which is the least newsworthy part of the entire article.
