I'm 30+ years older than that and enjoyed it.

24+ here and I liked it, too. I made a resolution when I was a kid to not turn into one of those adults that gets "stuck" in a particular musical time period. My step-dad, for instance, only listens to music from the 50's, music that played when he was in elementary school. There are only so many songs made during that time period, eventually you'll hear them all. I am constantly trying to find new stuff and have had a really good run of late with Walk the Moon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. (yeah, I know) and a few others...

I'm not sure if that's bigpeeler's problem, maybe he just finds this particular song to be juvenile, but I do know plenty of people like that.

nope - song sucked

So that was the "Chipmunk" subgenre of dubstep?

Interesting video though. I'm not a dubstep hater, I actually have been digging Electronica in a variety of forms for over 20 years, but the vocals were too chirpy for me.

Animation was really cool. The song, however? It blew.

"I'm a rocker through and through. Here's a list of my favorite bands: AC/DC, Van Halen not Van Hagar, Skynyrd, Def Lep..."

Looks 'shopped. If you look around at the periferie, nothing else ever moves or changes position.

2012-05-08 04:28:21 PM
farking drumstep, why are you so terrible? This coulda been a decent song too; the vocal had potential.

51 here, I liked it. Not a big fan of dub, but this was better than Skrillex.
I'm more into vocal trance, prog, etc.

Song would have been better without the cartoon voice.

2012-05-08 05:46:56 PM
That was rather clever. Music wasn't at all bad, too, and it gave my subwoofer a workout (which doesn't happen often, at my time of life).

2012-05-08 06:03:42 PM
ok, i guess i have to say that subbies idea of "not bad " and mine dont really jibe.

I liked it all.

46 here, and that song sucks more than anything that has ever sucked before. Animation is pretty cool tho.

2012-05-08 07:21:38 PM
great animation, not sure I dug the song. Seemed like it was trying to hard to be dub-step

Mute button. I stab at thee.

Space Time was the first song I heard from Delta Heavy and I thought it was better and less commercial sounding than this one.

I severely dislike that kind of music and think the stop motion was a cheap rip off of PES's work. Unless it was really PES doing it, in which case it's far from his best work.

Western Spaghetti
Game Over

And my absolute favorite..

I did a better stop motion video on the john this morning.

The song was pretty OK, right up until it got all dub-steppy, then I turned it off.

So, I'm not hip to this "Dub". "step" tomfoolery.
To me this was rather energetic vocal trance, and pleasant vocals at that.
What makes this dub-step?

Let's start here... Do you like *any* electronica?

It's not really dubstep, however....

Most people wouldn't categorize it as trance primarily because it's based on a broken beat. People are calling it dubstep because of the heavy emphasis on a distorted bassline combined with the layout of the drum pattern.

The problem is, it's really just drum and bass with most of the drums at half speed. That makes it drumstep. At the start of the song you can even hear the classic DnB sounding breakbeat before it goes to half speed, and even during the half speed parts you can still hear the cymbals at full speed. The line isn't completely clear as to where dubstep starts and where drumstep begins (or if it even exists as a genre outside of drum and bass with a breakbeat at half speed). But I think most would clearly classify it as 'not dubstep'.

Interesting. Without the vocals, or with much shorter and more repititious(a la DjDB), I could definitely see how it could be DnB.
There's a melody and a vocal track too, though, hence my desire to put it over with energetic vocal trance. Frankly, I would categorize it as like and be done with it.
Seems silly to make such finely granular distinctions when such larger ones exist (HappyHC, techno, trance, ambient, HC, minimalist, etc) This just seems like an exercise as to which round hole does this fit most bestest into.

\HCTID =D
