Sandra Fluke gets her widdle feelings hurt and the president puts her on speed dial. Bristol Palin weathers repeated attacks from an Obama donor? Crickets.

Hmm.

One's a private citizen who is an advocate for women's rights and responsible sexual behavior who got beat up for speaking for women in front of Congress.

The other is an irresponsible hypocrite who begs for national attention then biatches about it when she doesn't like the type of attention she gets.

She's so much like her mother it's frightening. The cracker sure doesn't fall far from the box, does it?

Slow? Projecting much?

Bristol Palin is being mocked for a poor decsion she made when she was 17, now unlike you, most 17 year olds are prone to making poor decisions. Fast forward to today, given her financial position, she is in a place to afford to care for any child that may result from her current behavior. If you cannot understand that, maybe you should just keep to yourself

First off, learn what projection means.

Second, she's in that financial position BECAUSE of that poor decision. Do you think anyone would have given 2 shiats about her had she not gotten knocked up? No. And they certainly wouldn't have fallen over themselves to pay her a speaking fee and give her a book deal for being an "activist."

Don't you see? She tells kids not to do something that she herself is profiting from. That's like a drug dealer spearheading a "Just Say No" campaign.

You can't profit from something and then complain when someone points out that your message is full of shiat.

Unless I misremember by 1st Amendment law, legally speaking Bristol Palin is what is called a "limited purpose public figure." The idea of a limited purpose public figure is that they are not protected from defamation or invasion of privacy on the issues that they push themselves into the media for.

So, if you're really looking for irony...legally speaking, not only is making fun Bristol's pregnancies OK, it's one of the ONLY topics that're OK to make fun of her about.

You hang on limbeaughs every word, you proudly proclaim yourselves dittoheads, your politicians are afraid to criticize him and those that dare to are forced to apologize, he's invited to speak at your political rallies.

You know how maher is treated by the left? 90% with a "who?" 9.9% with, "hey that was marginally funny" and the rest are to busy burning flags on veterans graves to pay attention.

Stop it already.

In other words, she's a Republican.

One woman was called a slut because she wanted government-paid birth control.

Another woman was called a coont because she is the voice of a bunch of right wingnuts.

Guess which one is OK.

The one that wasn't made by a CPAC keynote speaker?

Certainly not the one who injected $1 million into the presidential race.

Do you honestly believe candidates should be held responsible for statements made by those who donate? Really?

He's also a political commentator, just like Limbaugh, for cripe's sake.

This is the similarity:

Neither one is "okay," inasmuch as the use of the word in either situation is somewhat asinine. Both are "okay," inasmuch as, hey, free speech. Love it or plug your farking ears and move on with your life. Either way, you don't get to prevent people from saying things that don't put people in danger.

This is the difference:

Maher has donated to the campaign of a Democrat. This reflects on Maher, not on the Democrat. If the Democrat turned it down, that would reflect on the democrat, because he would be A) An idiot if he needed the money or B) A principled idealist if he did not need the money.

Rush has been selected as a speaker for CPAC and named the honorary head of the Republican party. This reflects, respectively, on CPAC and the Republican party. If he had denied either the role or the title, this would reflect on him as well as a person who disagreed with the mission or actions of the group who he turns down.

No, Bill Maher is not the left's Rush. He's not even the left's Glenn Beck. I have never heard anyone, anywhere quote him or even discuss him as a political luminarie. He may consider himself one of the left, but he is about as influential as the fark liberal consensus. Progressives just don't work that way, and to believe otherwise is intellectually dishonest.
