Woo hoo! Let the insanity commence! I voted for Falk just before 8 this morning. Was the 60th voter in my polling location.

I can't decide if Scott Walker's head is misshapen, his haircut's lopsided, or his eyes are at different heights. Anyway, he's unpleasant to look at. Or talk to. Or be around. That's my point.

+1.

I'm going to the polls with my wife around 5 to do the same.

Other races to watch today are obviously the gay marriage amendment in North Carolina and the Republican Senate primary in Indiana, where the last remaining fragment of respectability of the Republican Party may come to a thundering halt.

I'm going to the polls after work today. Still not sure whether to vote for Falk or Barrett and I haven't been able to find a lot of info on their policy positions. Can anyone point me to a decent breakdown?

I want it so close that there is a recount and court battles to ensue. Fark Walker and Fark Wisconsin....they deserve what they asked for.

This one's not too bad, but I wish it was more detailed. The Unions were a bit quick to endorse Falk, and most (including Walker's advertisers, apparently) seem to think that Barret has the better chance against Walker. I'm not sure it really matters-- Walker is getting voted out.

Another to consider the Republican challenger in the primary, Arthur Kohl-Riggs

Aw...crap. I must have forgot to put it on my calendar.

I'm going to need a bottle of bourbon....the cheap stuff...I don't want to break into something in a glass bottle until November, some Doritos...the big bag....Red Bull....a case of the stuff....a NERF gun and plenty of ammo....my fuzzy slippers, the long leash so the dog can walk himself without me being there and some Advil for the next morning.

TIme for the guaranteed to be wrong predictions! 1) Walker stays in office 2) NC passes the amendment 3) Luger is out in Indiana.

Derp wins today. When 25% of your population (the authoritarians) will ALWAYS vote one direction and votes in higher rates than the normal people, Derp ALWAYS starts with a lead. Split the rest 60/40 and it's still a derp win.

I'm voting Barrett later today.

If the actual recall election is solely about the issue of unions, Walker has a much better chance of winning. Falk has made this solely about unions.

Are they really going to throw out an incumbent power player because he knows how to get things done? Are Republicans really going to let perfect be the enemy of good?

I'm gonna laugh if the seat goes blue in November.

Bf+: I don't always vote Republican, but when I do...

Arthur Kohl-Riggs winning the Republican primary against Walker has about as much chance of working as Ron Paul winning in a surprise floor fight at the Republican convention. If your ok with Barrett running as the Democrat against Walker, than fine. But Falk needs all the votes she can get.

Barrett is only better than Scott Walker because he's not Scott Walker.

Yes. In a heartbeat. That's been the Tea Party's entire rationale at the voting booth. They don't want the furthest-right person who can win. They want the furthest-right person period.

I'm really split between Falk and Barrett. Frankly, I wish we had better options.
I slightly prefer Falk, but I think Barrett would do slightly better against Walker.
I'm not sure it really matters who you run against Walker. Like you say... they're both not Walker.

Barrett is the moderate-Milquetoast candidate that's already lost to Walker. I for one want a real debate with candidates that have real differences. Not a pair of politicians that are both trying not to offend anyone.

If you hate Walker, why do you want it close? I want to see a breezy, unambiguous recall. And with a number of signatures on the recall petition approaching the number of people who voted for him, that sounds doable.

Polling seems to say yes. (New window, Politico)

I early voted a couple of weeks ago. If I had to predict anything, I'd say that Barrett will lose to Walker by a razor thin margin in the general, and Mahlon Mitchell will beat Kleefisch by a similar razor thin margin for Lt. Gov. Yes, they are technically up for separate recalls, and lulz will be had.

Out of the state senate recalls, Van Wanggard down in Racine will lose, flipping the senate to Democratic control, and the other R's will hold on. So Walker winning won't mean much anyway.

The Amendment in NC should never have been on the ballot in the first place. Putting constitutional amendments on primary ballots, which typically have sub-20% turnout, should be illegal. It was obviously done to give it the best chance of passing since it is just a GOP primary year, which until last month would have guaranteed higher turnout with the GOP while there was no incentive for Dems to vote.

It's the underhandedness one would expect from NC politics. The same group voted on a bill when 2 Democrats were out of the country on business and one was in the hospital after being hit by a drunk driver.

Will unions continue to spend tens of millions of dollars to throw a temper tantrum aimed at protecting the corrupt circle of pay/benefits being given to them by Democrats in exchange for votes/campaign contributions?

Of course they will.

And next week we will see OWS lamenting income inequality, or student loans, or half a dozen other things that their fellow leftist friends in unions could be spending that money on instead of recalling a successful governor who dared to stand up even slightly to the public sector unions on behalf of tax payers.

Elections have consequences until liberals lose. Then its time for recalls and temper tantrums.

I love both unions and freedom, so I was curious to see what you have indeed said about unions:

BigBooper
2012-04-23 02:58:07 PM

Unions have organized and threatened boycotts of companies if they appeared to support Walker in any way. That includes small business who tried to stay neutral, and wouldn't post pro-union flyers, and businesses that were looking to move to Wisconsin. There is a toxic political atmosphere in Wisconsin, and much of that is fueled by national Union money as they attempt to not only make an example of Scott Walker, but the entire state of Wisconsin. It's obvious that many of the groups operating here couldn't give a rats ass about the state or the people in it. They are working to secure their own power base; in this state and nationally.

Is it no wonder that companies would avoid Wisconsin like the plague? And no, I don't blame Walker for what's going on here. I blame desperate union thugs who are hell bent on holding onto a system who's time has past. They are the ones who would sacrifice not only the people of Wisconsin, but Wisconsin Union members to maintain their power.

Perhaps this makes me an idiot in your mind, instead of a troll. So be it; I'm proud to ride the short bus!

/here's a depressing thought: my vote counts as much as yours

The rest of your comments in these Wisconsin threads have seemed like a both-sides-are-bad-so-vote-Republican. What's my verdict? You don't seem to have been an anti-union crusader, but quatchi's concerns seem well-founded.

Yeah I think I am going to vote for him as well. Everyone is telling me to vote for Barrett because he has the best shot a winning. I am not so sure about that he didn't win last year against him, so I am not sure about now. I was also thinking Falk, because she seems like she won't take shiat from no one. Plus she seems to actually give a shiat about people. However seeing La Follette talk he knows his shiat, and has a mechanical cow that amuses me.
