I listened to Rogan's podcast where he was the "guest", and he seemed fine until a little over an hour into it (everyone on the set was drinking, he but he was really pounding beers and some shots on-air), and then he became utterly annoying. Every third word out his mouth was an expletive and he didn't answer a question so much as rant about whatever came to mind, and routinely cut everyone off to do so.

Point is, Deadmau5 seems like an angry drunk.

The incendiary event happened while Zimmerman was premiering a new song mindless drum machine program almost completely devoid of any musical vision or talent, basically muzak for the dance club set, entitled "The Veldt."

FTFM

Why do people go to concerts for these people if it is a computer doing all the work? Can't they just go to the nearest city for some drugs and then listen to the cd/mp3?

I think you want to ask this question in a Skrillex thread, since I don't think he actually does anything at his concerts (see also: Girl Talk, who I lasted about 5 minutes for at a festival where he basically danced around with girls he pulled up on the stage while a pre-programmed set played on his computer, and upon realizing it had to be entirely preprogrammed, we went to another stage to find someone who was actually doing something). Like his music or hate it (I'm not a huge fan), but I think Deadmaus actually does stuff for his shows. Not like Plastikman-level of live production or anything, but he's not just pressing play and letting it go.

It's all a bunch of bleepity boop and flashing lights and people jumping around like a bunch of goddamn monkeys, not like rock shows were in MY day.

Furthermore proving the theory, that without guitars and drums, you're doing it wrong.

The point is, what can he contribute besides digital alteration of pre-programmed music? He might not just stand there, but he's certainly not playing an instrument or anything similar. At best he's almost certainly emulating the buildup and creation of a song, like Keller Williams, but with none of the actual talent or skill.

Some of us do it just for the show...

I saw Fisherspooner at the Fillmore what feels like eons ago... And about 1/2 way into "Tone Poem" when the lyrics kick in Casey Spooner puts down the mic, cracks open a beer, and lights up a smoke. The song is still going, the recording of him is still singing... but he just stands there and sips a beer while having a smoke. It was great...

A couple songs later they were trying to get the next song going, and they were having technical difficulties, and he started yelling up at Fischer... "HOW HARD IS IT TO PUSH PLAY ON A CD PLAYER?!?"

It was an awesome show...

Isn't Deadmau5 just Skrillex wearing a silly helmet to disguise his silly face?
