You mean Fox News would want to make climate change seem like a silly problem we shouldn't think about? I don't believe it.

/waiting for "dino farts" to become the default reply when Republicans hear about climate change.

I don't see why Fox News would want to sensationalize the myth of global warming anyway.

I'd like to think nobody would be dumb enough to read or watch anything Murdoch owns at all, but my desires on the matter don't seem to conform very well to reality.

The implication that Fox news isn't the most trusted, unbiased news source ever makes me believe you are a socialist communist homosexual muslin.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the global public. That's why I bought shares of Newscorp when the hacking scandal broke knowing that they would eventually come back after the panic selloff. Up 20%. If only there were a way I could invest directly in Transformers movies. Really get in on the stupid gravy train.

Thank you Fox News for keeping us infromed.

Dinosaur farts may have increased greenhouse gasses = not exciting.

Dinosaur farts may have caused their own extinction = next Jurassic Park sequel.

2012-05-08 10:08:57 AM
So we are selectively forgetting that Al Gore said that methane gas produced from cow farts would cause global warming back in the 1990's? This caught on so much that New Zealand proposed a flatulence tax on farmers for their sheep and cattle back in 2003.

SO of course this is just Fox making a mockery of science.

You know it was a warm winter, when natural gas and heating fuel distribution companies are reporting their worst winter performances ever. It obvious that its four billion asian people eating tofu and curry that caused that, however.

If dinosaurs could speak: "Whoops... yeah that was me. Oh, while you're here, pull my talon!"

I feel like there's a common disconnect between scientific articles and the "news" associated with them. The disconnect is that scientific articles are long, difficult to read, and difficult to parse into soundbites. It's almost like these eggheads aren't trying to be celebrities!

So reporters just guess what the article may have meant and then punch it up with fart jokes.

Wouldn't shock me. I once had a climate change argument with a derper who claimed that according to his own personal research breathing caused more CO2 than anything else. Not a word of a lie, his line was "Are you suggesting we stop breathing now?"

Yeah, because Fox is the only news that sensationalizes news by omission or misrepresentation of facts. I would venture to say that you, Mr. Subscriber, do not like Fox because they sensationalize things that you personally do not agree with just as the article's author. You are both, in fact, correct. Fox does sensationalize, just like CNN, MSNBC, BBS, Al Jazeera and every other farking 24 hour news service. Personally I prefer Fox's sensationalizing over the others probably because I am a die hard gun totin' constitution supporting moral non-baby killing conservative hard working American.

Nope. That methane is a powerful atmospheric insulator that leads to warming is not in dispute, by anyone with a god damned brain. What is in dispute is why the media (in this case Fox News) fabricated the extinction tie-in to this story, that said that methane production would have produced a stable, long-term warming effect that had measurable impacts on the Mesozoic ecosystem.

This is what passes for climate science at Fox News. It's why I trust them over, yanno, trained scientists.

Incidentally, if you're trying to counterpoint the CO2 theory this desperately, you might first want to think about what your alternative theory is going to do to the price of a burger, dispticks.

Remember logic class? Some stories published by Fox News are bogus. This story was published by Fox News, therefore, this story is bogus, right?

Does Rupert Murdoch also own these publications?

National Geographic

CBS News

BBC

etc.

Aso, shouldn't we at least give Fox credit for admitting that dinosaurs existed?

I saw a bunch of stories (mostly AP) that said Dinosaurs might have contributed to global warming. Fox said "Dinosaurs 'gassed' themselves into extinction, British scientists say". Did any other major news outlet have as inaccurate a headline?

factoryconnection: What is in dispute is why the media (in this case Fox News) fabricated the extinction tie-in to this story,

The extinction tie-in exists in every global warming/ climate change story. Why are we trying to *prevent* global warming/ climate change? Because we are told if we do not, it will cause our extinction, right? That is the final result of that process. Oceans rise, lots of living things die, eventually humans become extinct. That did not suddenly become part of the plot this week.

You're missing the point. Those articles you link say dinosaur emissions may have warmed the earth, which is what the article actually says. Fox News says farts caused dinosaur extinction which is completely fabricated.

And I wonder why I've never had a second date.

SlothB77: Please ignore articles like this from 2008, as Fox News is trying to discredit science in 2012 and none of those other articles about cows farting causing global warming that preceded it do not exist.

It looks like Argentina has figured out a way to collect a new fuel source, I just wonder if a cow produces enough methane in their lifetime to cook all the steaks, burgers, chili, roast beef, ribs, and/or heat milk to pasteurization levels?

It never once in any of those articles says that dinosaurs farted themselves to extinction. Fox News did say that. That's kind of the whole point of TFA, genius.
