One thing about all the recent coverage is driving me nuts:

"The bomb was huge, sophisticated, and undetectable; there was an active plot in motion; we found out where it came from and have the bomb in hand; there are more of them out there. That said, there was never any danger to anyone, you are 100% safe under all situations."

That sets off my Orwell sensors every time.

DHS is probably the one who made and gave them the "bombs" in the first place. Just more bullshiat to justify our continued bombing of Yemen, the continued erosion of our civil rights, and to give the media something to report other than how we Murdered a bunch of Civilians in Afghanistan over the weekend.

I had CNN on this morning for background noise while making my son's breakfast.

When they started talking about the CIA intercepting this device in the Middle East they were playing video of TSA agents wanding people in some American airport.

I could only think "WTF does TSA have to do with a CIA op in the Middle East?"

Is it just me or do you think the REAL terrorist plot is actually to not really blow anything up but rather just to make it so our lives are so uncomfortable due to the kneejerk ham fisted efforts of the gov't?

They're not even trying anymore. Since virtually no one believes anything our occupied and compromised government has to say, they're just shooting for the lowest common denominator now, since the only people left who actually believe any of this shiat are toothless trailer dwellers and the mentally retarded.

Now that you know it's bullshiat (since I assume you aren't a toothless trailer dweller or have Authority Worship Syndrome), are you going to continue to believe every false flag and keep perpetuating the lie because you're afraid of being labeled a nutter or right-winger? Or will you actually tell your family, friends, co-workers to open their eyes and take a critical look at what's going on around us?

Not any different than any other year. Most of the scaremongering goes to 11 BS revolves around when there's a threat to cut a budget or an inquiry into alleged illegal activity. That this is an election year is almost irrelevant.

Don't forget "so that the government can continue to use our tax dollars to buy overpriced and useless scanning gadgets from security contractors." You'd be hard pressed to find anything the government does that isn't blatant corporate wellfare in one way or another.

I still don't understand why terrorists don't just blow up the sprawling "security" lines in the airports. Every bit as effective as blowing up a plane.

Airports shut down, death, terror. And they'd never even hit a security check.

I'm referring to the fact that the majority of the "terror plots" these guys break up turn out to have been planned, paid for, and instigated by the agencies themselves when it comes time to prosecute them. For the most part I wrote that to blow off some steam over all the crap our gov pulls in the name of "security", not to offer an accurate critique of this specific instance, so I certainly deserve some snark in response. If you want to use that to ignore all the vile things done by our government in your name, and all the innocent lives we end out of pure laziness, incompetence and greed, then go right ahead. I mean hell; that attitude hasn't had any negative repercussions over the last decade, why would it start doing so now?

Saying that the current Israeli government does evil shiat is not blaming "the Jews" for anything; A government is not a people, let alone a religion or identity. Besides, Greenwald(who is Jewish, not that this seems to matter smear-artists like you) spends far more time writing about the evil crap the US government does than the various sins of Israel. If you want to go attack a Jewish person for leveling critiques against the Israeli state, why not try the staffHa'aretz or Peter Beinart?

So if these bombs are undetectable, but our government is so super sly that they can intercept them long before they're a danger to anyone, what's the justification for grabbing my balls at the security station again?

If I had a bomb in my scrotum, they would clearly catch me long before I was in the airport. If they didn't, the bomb would be undetectable, so feeling me up wouldn't help.

The TSA had nothing to do with catching this guy, and likely wouldn't have detected the device if he had tried to board a plane with it. The obvious thing to do is give the TSA more funding and authority. After all, stopping 0 terrorist plots per year while groping small children, giving everyone in the room ball cancer and making the experience of flying so miserable that it's contributing to the decline of the entire industry isn't cheap!

My new get-rich-quick scheme: Order 1,000,000 pairs of the X-ray specs that they used to sell in the back of comic books, jack the price to $10,000 per pair, and get my Senator buddy to force the TSA to buy them. They'll be just as effective at stopping terrorists as the full-body scanners, they're a hell of a lot cheaper, and they don't irradiate your entire body every time you fly. It's win-win-win!!

And what bugs me is that they are saying that they're "undetectable" and yet somehow they continue to pretend that doesn't completely decimate the justification for groping us all - grandmas and toddlers included - when getting on a plane.

Same as the last underwear bomb plot. The farking guys selling the body scanners said at the farking time that they wouldn't have even caught that bomb, yet somehow it was still used as justification for the government to spend billions on them anyway and expose people to unnecessary extra ionizing radiation.

Officials are admitting we had a guy on the inside of this one, which is why we caught it so quickly, and why the head of the cell responsible for it got a one-way ticket to the afterlife via Hellfire missile a couple of days ago.
