I love how the father says "come back" when the kid is long out of earshot.

/yeah, come back, come back

The kid is worried, but not terrified. You can tell he's not running full-out like he would be if he really thought his life was in imminent danger.

Which is good news for the parents, because you don't have to out run the T-Rex. You just have to outrun your kid.

Yep, kid was not totally terrified. Sure he didn't like it, but his reaction wasn't one of complete terror.

Unlike me at about 4 years old during a visit to some museum when they had a life size robotic T-rex. Apparently as I walked into the room it was in it roared and moved it's head and in a split second I went from having fun to complete screaming my head of panic. I was screaming and crying for a good 10 minutes.

Mean old staff said that we couldn't go backwards (it was some sort of tour) so we had to go through the room. Despite the fact that they could see that even with my mum's best efforts I clearly wasn't going to go into the room with the T-rex.

/She eventually had to hold me and cover my ears and run through the room to get me past it.

Let's not ignore the very important truth in this video: mommy had a baby less than a year ago (given that you can't use front-carry Bjorns very long) and damn she is skinny as hell.

Just sayin', ladies...

I'd like to see more of mom as I find her much more interesting than the kid.

I hated feeding the chickens when I was a kid. We had a Dominique rooster that didn't need a reason to fight, all he needed was an opponent.

Ok.....I just have to say that I think the kid is brilliant. He's little so he doesn't know that it isn't real yet, but he has the presence of mind to realize that it's a freaking T-Rex and it's moving. So what should you do? Get the hell away from it as fast as your little legs can carry you, and that's what he does! He even tells others on the trail to "Run, Run", I think he deserves a freaking medal, if not an ice-cream cone!

Kid = smart, survival instinct intact!
Parents = not so much! :)

At least he didn't go straight up to it, he ran away.....Good On Ya Kid!

And next time they tell him to run, will he trust them? Or will he decide he's not going to get fooled again, as he stands in front of the Amtrak express?

Yeah that kid's "Run run run!" seems more like for fun play acting as in "Let's pretend a dino is chasing us!" than like terror. A 2 year old that thought it was a real T-Rex would be crying and screaming like a banshee while hiding behind mommy.

If anything I'd say that's a kid who has seen a lot of dinosaurs cartoons. Think about it.. in a cartoon/kids movie, when a t-rex shows up, everyone stops, stands still for a minute, then turns and runs away shouting "run!" The kid was doing what he thought was the appropriate response based off everything he's seen. Plus it's clear he's into dinosaurs as the mom asks him what kind it is.

I think he'd rather like the one in Toys R Us Times Square

2012-05-08 04:14:16 PM
I like that the 'Zach, come back' was perfectly timed to be followed by another roar from the dinosaur. If I was that kid, no way I'd fall for that trick.

They didn't show the part where the kid runs into the parking lot at the end of the trail and gets run over by a car.

I want to be awful parents. I want to torture my offspring psychologically.

Just don't make me teach them math. LOLZ i slept through that. farkit.

I'm glad I don't have kids. I wouldn't do something like that to my kid as I can remember being a kid and being very scared by harmless things (like being taken on the Pirates of the Caribbean and the Matterhorn when I was four). I don't know if not doing things like this to my kid would make him a better person or a wussy.

My kid shouts the exact same thing and has the same reaction when I chase him around the house dressed as a zombie.
I always get taken down with a head shot from his Nerf. He's five and loves anything with zombies in it. At the moment, his fav game is L4D2 which he's been playing for the last couple of years.

Took him to the Natural History Museum a few weeks back to see the lifesize animatronic T-rex. I was trying to scare him by saying how hard it would be to kill it and that the T-rex could eat him up in one go. He wasn't impressed... He just replied 'Headshot'.

/Maybe he should lay off the games for a while?

yes we scarred our kid for life and we nearly have 1200 views on youtube to show for it! WORTH IT

One day, when my brother was about eight, my dad came home and told him that he'd bought him a "langosta" for a pet. My brother was all excited, and my dad told him "It's in the trunk of the car. When I open it, you've got to reach in and give him a great big hug!" My brother leaned into the dark trunk, and came face to face with a two foot lobster.

/we laughed and laughed
