Nah, this is a non-story based on the rantings of a catholic priest who is decrying the decline in marriage rates. Naturally he blames women for this, and has decided they are too picky about who they want to marry. Never would he consider that less people get married at all because they don't feel the societal pressure to do so any more, or that those that do get married are doing so later. No, it's women being picky and unreasonable.

As an immigrant to the fine nation of Australia, I'll say this - the women are beautiful. BUT, by about the age of 30/35 they turn leathery. The sun here is totally unforgiving.

Based solely on my own anecdotal experience... and seeing what's happening with the choices friends and acquaintances are making... this is going to become a large problem (in the US of A) eventually.

Men are figuring out what a scam the whole system of marriage, divorce, support and custody is. And many... like me... simply picked up their ball and went home. Not investing my effort in a game knowing the rules aren't fair.

So... it's either gonna be a big deal... or the women folk will lose interest... and eventually people will stop getting married.

When the Catholic church puts out warnings about a lack of available male partners, you know it's past being a major problem and has gone full crisis.

This story received some minor attention in Australian media. Stupid Australian media, that is. The answer to your question is, according to this survey, 1.3 million single women. I somehow doubt that they excluded women with kids or women earning under $60K, like they did with men to get this stupid statistic.

This story can safely be ignored. It's what happens when stupid Australian Catholics get into stupid Australian media. Here in Australia we do have some occasionally excellent media, and for all I know there may be some non-stupid Catholics too.
