For years, they referred to adamantium being there, but heck that's not the whole story any more anyway: after Fear Itself, the shield also contains Uru.

THANK YOU.

I was going to ask someone to post that. Hey website, f*ck you in the ass with a Mjolnir.

Yep. I thought that adamantium was the alloy that was reverse engineered when they were trying to figure out how to replicate the shield.

Repulsor technology from Stark. At least in the current (I think) Helicarrier.

"The best is the vibranium microweave mesh in his spandex, which absorbs the kinetic energy of anything thrown at him, including bullets."

Why would anyone throw bullets? If you can throw them hard enough to be useful as a weapon you'd probably have better and less documented items available.

Steel, according to the wikia.

Aside:

Black Panther's ... vibranium microweave mesh in his spandex, which absorbs the kinetic energy of anything thrown at him, including bullets. He put some vibranium in his boots, too, so he can jump several stories off a building and land like a cat.

Wouldn't vibranium present in his clothes make it difficult to move? Also, I don't care how much kinetic energy your shoes can absorb, your knees are another story.

I've always thought that Iron Man's power source was amazing/unrealistic technology. Something that small that can fly a man around at high speed and throw energy beams? How many houses could you power with that?

What about the Iron Spider suit Stark made for Peter Parker during the Civil War storyline?

I liked it.

I don't know why you want to make houses fly and throw energy beams, but if that's what does it for you, it could probably be adapted. Might be a challenge reinforcing the necessary bits of the house so it'll stay together while you fly.

Apparently, you can just weave some vibranium into the house and everything will be fine.

This must be a change, because I distinctly remember reading in the (then canonaical) GUIDE TO THE MARVEL
UNIVERSE that it was an alloy of adamantium and vibranium whose exact composition was unknown because
the experiment that produced it caused the lab that was trying to come up with new super metals for the WWII
war effort was destroyed, leaving behind only one sample of their only success, which was fortuitously shield
shaped.

Of course, this was circa 1991 or so, and doubtless things have changed 15 times at least since then. And it
was for the 'mainline' Marvel universe (Earth-616?), which may not even exist any more.

I want something like the portable computers they were using. They looked like a tablet that fit into the hard sleeve that contained the keyboard. They were only briefly on the screen. Logitech has done similar with the iPad 2. But the Avengers slid out of a sleeve. I'd love to see something like that for an Android or (even better) Win8 Pro tablet. It'd also help with cooling options.

FTFW (From the farkin' Wikipedia): During one of his experiments to fuse vibranium with an experimental iron alloy,[7] MacLain falls asleep and awakens to find the experiment a success. This is due to an unknown catalyst entering the process during his slumber, and he is unable to duplicate the result. The vibranium-iron alloy mix is then poured into a mold for a tank's upper hatch to create the disc shape and painted to become Captain America's symbol.

Rogers' indestructible shield was long referred to, even in continuity, as being composed of an adamantium steel-vibranium alloy.

Bullshiat. It's the comics. 'There's only one' always has 'for right now' at the end. Just like 'indestructable' 'infinite', 'immortal', and 'virgin'.

And can anyone tell me how in the fark you put a shield strap on an indestructable metal disc that absorbs all energy directed at it? Magnets would move, you can't put a sleeve around the entire shell of the shield without it getting blown to bits in a fight, you can't drill or weld mounts..

.from the Marvel Wiki:

*The shield is composed of the most durable known substance in the mainstream Marvel Universe. Despite numerous attempts, the Vibranium-Steel alloy has never been duplicated.

*The shield is not only nearly indestructible, but it absorbs a great deal of kinetic energy from impacts because of its Vibranium component. That is why the Hulk and Thor can pound it while Cap is holding it, without simply sending him into the ground or the air. Cap has also used the shield to cushion the force of impact when dropped from a high altitude by standing on the shield.

* The shield is in shape of a concave disc. The shield's shape makes it a superb throwing weapon, as it can cut through the air with minimal wind resistance. It is also able to bounce off solid objects, such as walls and floors, when struck on its edge and can be ricocheted off of multiple surfaces. It can be caught after a single throw, when angled properly. Edges are quite sharp and never seem to dull.

*It's a comic book (movie)
