White cake and cheese? You'll pass. With difficulty. Days later.

Why would you have a pizza cupcake when you can just have a pizza? Is there something wrong with the current pizza design that making it in to cupcake form would be preferred?

Would you put chocolate icing and sprinkles on a pizza crust?

Well... OK. You might. But a pizza cupcake still is wrong.

See it, I cannot. Streaming media, it is. By Websense, it is blocked. Yes.

But, oh damn. Why?

That's disgusting. Just because two foods are tasty does not mean they should be mixed. What next, ice cream and gravy?

I'm over cupcakes. Sandwich cookies are where it's at.

I_Am_Weasel: Why would you have a pizza cupcake when you can just have a pizza?... Would you put chocolate icing and sprinkles on a pizza crust?

It's not a cupcake; it's a muffin. So basically it probably feels like eating a Papa John's pizza. Maybe bready enough to give you that Chicago "pizza" experience.

FTA: (ed. note: occasionally, someone has an idea so simple and yet brilliant that you have to ask yourself how it's possible that mankind went this entire time without coming up with it already.)

So pizza toppings on other forms of bread is news?

Pft. I did this a year ago. Delicious, but you can't really get the bready/sauce/toppings ratio right, always too much bready.

I used to make this for the high school girls coming through on bus trips that would stop for sammiches.

Take a full sized pizza dough rolled out, and butter the edges and sprinkle sugar on the edges.
Park cherry pie filling on the crust, thinly spread. No deeper than one cherry.
Take a bag of fresh made cheesecake batter and put a lace top on the pie.
Bake it and let it cool just before they walk in, slice and serve.
or sell the whole thing cut and in a pizza box.

Om nom nom .

It could work maybe with a pastrypuff crust, some roasted garlic/tomato/basil purray, some diced bacon/onion and smoked gouda perhaps.

Loaf of sourdough french bread / cut in half lengthwise
Toss your favorite sauce / cheese / toppings on each half
Cook in oven until cheese is melted to your liking
Slice up and eat

Much easier/faster and tastier than silly overrated cupcakes.

Handy Tip: Smash your pizza cupcakes with a hammer for NY style pizza cupcakes.

I could see putting pepperoni in my spicy corn muffins. They already have cheese on top. Will try that next time, but will not call them 'pizza muffins' or something stupid like that.

(this thread made me hungry. lunchtime!)

Try chorizo instead, with pepper jack cheese. It's killer!

Also known as poor-man's pizza. My mother's disgusting idea of gourmet cooking when I was in elementary school.

That's just French Bread pizza. A staple at most schools and I still make it. I like it.

And yet, Stoffers has made millions selling just that in those little red boxes in your grocer's freezer.

Probably a better idea. I try to use mexican/southwestern flavours in my corn muffins (chopotle in abodo sauce went into this weekend's corn muffins. yum!) so chorizo would probably be my first sausage choice over pepperoni.

A great party horse-dover:

Start with canned biscuits.
Flatten with a floured glass.
Bake for 1/2 the suggested time.
Remove from oven and re-flatted.
Add pizza sauce (~1 tsp each), cheese and toppings.
Bake until the cheese is melted.

Might be better if you rolled out pizza dough, cut it into rounds and pressed those into the muffin tins, then filled those with sauce, cheese and toppings. Like mini pan pizzas. The way they do it, it's like making cheese bread.

It would probably be best to top the muffins once cooked. If you do the baking with the bacon in there, you may run the risk of "rehydrating" the bacon. It will end up chewy instead of crispy.

And crispy bacon is happy bacon (chewy bacon is self loathing and has mommy issues).

No. I'm with him on this. Chewy pieces in a corn muffin are inferior to crispy meaty bits in a corn muffin.

Yeah, Bacon as a topping should be crispy, but standalone Bacon should be slightly chewy in my opinion.

At least we can agree bacon is godlike.

Couple of weeks ago I made bacon cups.

Lined a cupcake tin with bacon so that 1 thick strip fills out each cup (spray down with a non-stick spray, first), and while that was going, had some chorizo going on the stove. When that was done I mixed that in with 12 eggs (I was making 24 cups), and a generous bit of shredded cheddar and some fresh goat cheese. Mixed that all together and poured it into the cups (make sure you let the chorizo cool, otherwise it might start to scramble the eggs). Throw in the oven for a bit and presto, you've got bacon cups. I did half pork bacon and half turkey - turkey held the cup shape better, but the swine is so much tastier. Excellent with hot sauce on it.

I can attest it is almost impossible to eat pizza, text, and drive at the same time. The world has been clamoring for a solution like this.
