The three of them signed their Christmas cards together. There are even suggestions that she was the sole beneficiary of his estate until she died. By all accounts, all three were happy with the arrangement. And he is now married to the other woman, Astrid Menks.

When you have as much money as Buffet, a marriage is going to be as open as you want it to be. If she doesn't like it, well... there's the door. Questions?

As I mentioned above, his first wife introduced him to his now-second wife back in 1978, and they all seemed to be happy. Hell, even his kids seem to think that their arrangement was good!

The bad thing about ghostery is it slows your browser WAY down.

I should get around to checking out DoNotTrack+ and see if it's a little less clunky.

For now NoScript and ABP works fine for me.

So why has the S&P500 (an index fund of all things) beaten Berkshire three years in a row?

I read an article over the weekend that talked about that very subject and how key it was to his Burlington Northern investment that the Keystone pipeline be delayed as long as possible. Must be time for Warren to retire. The genius is gone?

Are you just arbitrarily picking the last three years? How about from inception? Bit of a different story...

Because recent returns are all that count. What happened in, say 1974, has little to do with his current ability as the game has changed. As someone else just pointed out he needs to pull political strings these days to keep his image alive.

He is also not the most open easy guy to be around. He had his ways and his first wife wanted to do other things such as singing which he encouraged. She actually introduced Menks to him with the idea that she would take care of him. Susan Buffet went on to do some awesome things such as early AIDS awareness (she personally knew many who died) and championing other causes.

Well, Buffet is said to be currently worth about $70B. A man like Buffet never has to troll for women. All he has to do is show up and seem slightly receptive to the idea and the panties will start coming off. He probably isn't so much into this now, because he'll be turning 82 in a few months and that fire probably doesn't burn so hot anymore. But in the day....

Dude, you can run the same numbers he did. Start here, check S&P 500, and start playing with dates. You'll see there are periods where BRK wins, and periods where it loses. This year has been a HUGE gainer for S&P500, that doesn't make anything he wrote false; look at the 2010 numbers for yourself. 2010 was a big winning year, 2011 was a small losing year. 2012 has so far been a big losing year. In any period over a year that you look at, BRK repeatedly crosses the S&P, sometimes having better returns and sometimes worse.

And as the article considers, some of the current stock price plunge vs S&P might also be irrational punishment of Buffet for his heresy of promoting taxes, which might mean things turn around once the discount is too valuable to pass up.

What you didn't say Buffet owes 1 Billion? Now you are lying.

So if congress passed a law that all money I make is called "Corvus tax" and I would pay zero on it you would have no problem with it because it wasn't defined as "income tax".

See the problem people have is that capital gains isN'T counted like income tax which is a favorable way of taxing things for the rich. Just because congress defines it different does it mean it is always justified? That is your argument you are making.
