Why would you go see Anchorman 2 or The Dictator when you can get more laughs out of Karl Rove and his unnaturally powerful projector?

2012-05-07 11:00:35 AM
Yeah, and millions of Homer Simpsons agree with him.

FlashHarry: talk about brazen. but then that's his MO.

I don't think it's that brazen at all. He doesn't have to keep Crossroads GPS as a 501(c)(4) forever. He just has to keep it up in the air and tied up on court until after the election. After that, it won't matter anymore, he can release the donor list and just start a new super PAC at the correct time and repeat.

Breaking news from Turdblossom Water is not wet, the sun is cool, and pigs actually fly.

The chance that the IRS denies (c)(4) status to Karl Rove's group is fatter than the love-grandchild of Rosie O'Donnell, Michael Moore, John Leguizamo's character from Spawn, and Nintendo's Kirby.

Why is it that when I first read that, I thought "He's come out with a new GPS device? What does it do?"

GPS: "In 1 mile, make a right turn to avoid the Planned Parenthood outpost."

GPS: "Turn left... you miserable, Left-leaning turd."

GPS: "This route will help you avoid Illinois, home of Barack Hussein Obama."

Exactly. Rove's tactic isn't about "fooling" anyone, it's about delaying an official ruling until it's too late to matter.

Ideally he would be thrown in jail for 50 years after being convicted of election fraud and money laundering. Wouldn't happen in time to kick him out of this election, but it would prevent him from future shenanigans.

He also claims he's not balding, and doesn't wear glasses

Hmm, cuts to education, blatant lies, burn it to the ground if we don't win, all that matters is victory of our party, keep repeating a lie until people believe it, using a major media outlet as a propaganda machine, etc. I wonder where the GOP is getting their playbook.

"All propaganda has to be popular and has to accommodate itself to the comprehension of the least intelligent of those whom it seeks to reach." - Adolf Hitler

"How fortunate for leaders that men do not think." - Adolf Hitler

"It is not truth that matters, but victory" - Adolf Hitler

"The victor will never be asked if he told the truth." - Adolf Hitler

"The most brilliant propagandist technique will yield no success unless one fundamental principle is borne in mind constantly - it must confine itself to a few points and repeat them over and over" - Josef Goebbels

"Think of the press as a great keyboard on which the government can play." - Josef Goebbels

"If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State." - Josef Goebbels

"If the day should ever come when we [the Nazis] must go, if some day we are compelled to leave the scene of history, we will slam the door so hard that the universe will shake and mankind will stand back in stupefaction.." - Josef Goebbels

"The best political weapon is the weapon of terror." - Heinrich Himmler

"Education is dangerous - Every educated person is a future enemy" - Hermann Goerring

/Yeah, I went there.

Lost Thought 00: Ideally he would be thrown in jail for 50 years after being convicted of election fraud and money laundering.

That would require the Federal Elections Commission to have teeth. They are too gridlocked to enforce such rules.

IRS maybe... but even then, putting the IRS in the weird place of enforcing election law is a place the IRS doesn't want to be. They don't want to be in charge of making subjective decisions about whether a group's activities constitute electioneering or not.

Wow. What a massively scummy thing to do. But it is Rove, so it's not really surprising.

Why do I have a feeling that this article about Karl Rove and the one on the main page about eating babies is somehow related?

LeoffDaGrate: Why is it that when I first read that, I thought "He's come out with a new GPS device? What does it do?"

The only direction you can go using this GPS is right, which means you end up going nowhere. And since GPS devices are clearly a tool of the 99%, the 1% will go in whatever direction they want to go, driven by their chauffeurs.

It's a pretty solid metaphor for the GOP's platform.

Especially when the group is a Christian or Jewish religious group and the activities in question are blatant, overt electioneering.

/not applicable in the case of Rove SuperPAC, I know, but why else would the IRS turn a blind eye to the Mormons' campaigning on Prop 8 in CA and the megachurches' preaching to their congregations that they must vote for Republicans?

Also, why does God need a starship?

1) If your position is controversial, frame it as the opposite. (e.g., "we need to pass SOPA to protect the internet from government regulation")

2) Whatever strengths your opponent may have, accuse him of the opposite (e.g. "Obama has passed the most gun regulations out of any president")

3) rinse, repeat, ad infinitum...

Did Karl Rove name his political group that in honor of the place he sold his soul to the devil in order to have an almost inhuman ability to project his own weaknesses onto others without evincing the slightest moral qualm?

/Always wondered.
