I'm a huge fan of the "mullet" approach to business casual. Nice, unworn/untorn/unfaded pair of jeans, dress shirt, tie, decent shoes (not dress or sneakers). Business up top, casual on the bottom.

Anyone ever stop to consider what a suicidal garment the cape is? Look at it. It attaches AROUND YOUR NECK and the rest of it billows out behind you trying to get snagged on/in anything possible for that "Clothesline" effect.

I think they're supposed to settle around your shoulders, but I've never figured out how to make that work. I'd ask my LARP friends, but they're all "fark capes, acquire tabards". Weirdos. :)

bluehubcap: Mr_Ectomy: Subby is living in the past, golf shirts and khakis are the new uniform. Now THAT is f*cking boring

Ugh. I thought we were over those and were back to suits.

Half of my office looks like either Bruno Mars or the guys from Mad Men. It's made me wear skirts a bit more often, let me tell you.

So a win-win all around?

I feel you. Being short and a little pudgy (still losing the weight) makes it hard to find something that I don't look like a fool in. Suits are weird because I know that my women tend to like a well-dressed man. A suit certainly gets attention, but it's hard to find one that looks when you're not built like David Beckham.

Nabb1: xanadian: KingoftheCheese: Suits are awesome, subby. If I could afford it, I'd have a suit for every day of the week.

Look-wise, I'd say "same here," but I hate wearing neck ties. But, yes, a nice suit is super-sharp.

Try buying dress shirts In a larger neck size. If you find a tie uncomfortable, most likely the shirt is the culprit.

Totally this. Get sized. Buy custom.

I wear Hawaiian shirts every day to work. They are the most comfortable in this Texas heat.

I'd be happy to wear a suit and tie, but not today's version. Wide ties, awful-looking cuts on jackets. Blech. I prefer the thin ties and thin lapels of the early 60's. THIS is how a man should look in public:

I wear a suit a few times a year I got a couple for weddings, funerals, court, work functions. But nobody at my job wears a suit hell today the president is in a polo and khakis. When I was at another work site my dikfur boss told me I would get farther in the company if I dressed better. I pointed out how my work speaks for itself and when Im not there it is felt and if he wanted me to dress better he should pay better and get me a job where I would have a better than 90% chance of not having some crap spilled on me.

LOL I read Armageddon-2419 A.D. by Philip Francis Nowlan, the ORIGINAL Buck Rogers novel, first published 1928.

In it, he described the clothing of the future as a very light, stretchy, form-fitting fabric. Basically, he STARTED the trend in Spandex for sci-fi. Never mind that Spandex wasn't even invented until 1959. Thus the black-and-white Buster Crabbe Buck Rogers (and Flash Gordon, Buster played both, which was confusing, that's like casting Mark Hamill as captain of the Enterprise) serials didn't have Spandex yet either, even though it was in the book. They tried to make these tight-fitting shirts out of regular fabric but the cut just comes out awkward.

Of course, in 1928, he could not have predicted how many people would be far too fat to be wearing Spandex by the 21st century.

That boss got fired long ago for his hubris. I come to work do my work to the best of my ability and my clients recognize that. My primary job right now is a loading dock manager, nothing special but the people I work with make it harder than it is. My secondary job is to make sure the building I work in works. It is a little bit harder but not by much. So I spend a lot of time in places that would be unfriendly to suits. So I dont wear one.
