So crowds can change, unlike Breitbart, who is still dead. LOL

Counting crowd size was silly when they did it for the Glen Beck and John Stewart/Stephen Colbert ralies and it's farking silly now. But the right can't seem to help themselves. The party of rugged individualist sure does like to argue that you should vote for their guy because he is the cool kid and nobody likes that other poopy head.

Meh, Obama thinks he's so big. Real candidates don't waste their time filling puny coliseums. They think bigger, and go after football stadiums.

Notice that the crawler between the lower and upper bowls is blank in the first photograph, but once event began, the crawler/scoreboard featured a blue Obama/Biden logo.

Actually, that could just be caused by the first photograph needing a longer exposure, and the crawler's light became a blown highlight.

But that point sort of underscores your second one - that it was darker in the arena.

So, cameras lie?

The video is all you need. You don't need to argue about what lights were on or whether the banner scoreboard was the right color or a person's shadow on the ground. The video pans across the entire arena and there are 10,000+ people there. It looks packed.

Also, seriously, a Romney campaign spokesman takes a picture and swears it is the crowd as Obama is talking and people assume it to be true?

If they make Obama look good or the Republicans look bad, then yes.

Considering the photo didn't have Obama in the picture, there is absolutely no proof that it was taken when the guy said it was taken. We have his word that it was taken while Obama was on stage. Now, looking at the video from this article, the place looks packed and everyone is waiting for Obama to take the stage.

Do I believe Romney's campaign spokesman or a video posted by someone with a ridiculously stupid Youtube name?

Perhaps the Obama campaign realized the horrible perception and bused in 8-10 thousand more people and staged the video to combat the Romney campaign's assertions.

The right wing media was trying to level the playing field. They want to erase the memory of Mitt Romney giving his big economic address to 80,000 empty seats at Ford Field in Detroit.

No see, that's fair and balanced. You can't report on an embarrassing turn out for Romney without a similar story for Obama. The truth has nothing at all to do with balance.

2012-05-07 09:35:44 AM
Debunking this stuff is pointless, the people its aimed at will never see the "retraction" nor would they believe it if put in front of them.

I'll never understand the mindset of Joe Sixpack who fully believes the "mainstream MSM media" is lying to him but could not fathom that right-wing media might have a vested interest in doing so. Or that there is an international conspiracy of *scientists* but billion dollar oil companies are purer than the driven snow.

They fall for Fox New's tagline of 'Fair and Balanced' so easily it is almost insulting. They don't need proof, just someone telling them something.

The GOP is lucky at having a dedicated base that is so god damn stupid.

Was it Romney himself that said the rally was empty or was it one of his spokespeople?

The reason I ask is that I'm interested in knowing whether Romney knows what the fark is going on with this campaign or just happy to be blind, dumb and happy.

I guess Ol' Mitt is gonna have to flip flop on this non issue.

Four words, dozens of responses. Who's really winning here?

I'm not sure why anybody would have ever been inclined to believe it, unless they're delusional already. There's also really no point in comparing Obama's crowds to Romney's. Mittens is just a candidate, Obama is a sitting president FFS, he's going to draw huge crowds for that reason alone. Hell, I'd have gone and seen GWB in person if he'd held an event nearby, even though I really hated everything about him. We don't get many opportunities to see a sitting president speak (hell, I've only ever seen one president in person -- Clinton -- and he wasn't president any more, plus I had to sit through a Hillary rally for the privilege).

That's what happens when a group of people only get their info from "approved" sources. Many of my conservative friends exclaim proudly and often that they only get their news from a handful of places. They believe in every stupid conspiracy theory (FEMA camps, birtherism, New World Order), but for some reason will take everything Fox and Breitbart says on faith.

Stop voting for people based on how many people show up for their rallies. If you used this logic for other places in your life, Ryan Leaf would be a successful NFL player.
