Many if not most employers now have policies against googling or looking up information on an individual on facebook.

/although those policies seem lacking in government agencies - especially local

Have you tried googling him?

The top hit is an Australian poet, whose most prolific work was titled, "Taking it Like a Man: Suffering, Sexuality and the War Poets".

However, I found out something interesting, he published a book in 1996 titled "Hunger Games", 12 years before Suzanne Collins's "The Hunger Games". I wonder if the word the was put there for legal purposes.

Additionally, there is 6 Adrian Cesaers in Facebook - HR better get the right person while vetting otherwise, they are making hiring decisions on potentially fallacious information.

That's just his side of the story...the one he's willing to have published in the news. That does not mean it is the truth.

Thank goodness that programs like this are available to safeguard the good name of Adrian Caesar, Born 1986, looking for a career in Accounting after he graduates from the Spanish-American institute. He is also known as "Mr. CoNtRolInG" on myspace and caesaradrian elsewhere, and lives at 764 Hendrix St, Brooklyn, NY 11207-7210. He doesn't know if he wants kids, but does identify as 'straight', consistent with the circumstances of his arrest.

It basically took me longer to write and format that paragraph than to find out who he was, where he lived, and who he was related-to. The internet is a scary place; please don't tell reporters your name when you're in this or any other kind kind of trouble.

Is "ambulette" really a cromulent word in the US?

2012-05-07 09:38:25 AM
I have always wondered...

If you pulled up to a prostitute and offered her a gig in an adult movie, and she would be paid for her time, would that be soliciting a prostitute or setting up a porn movie filming?

Wouldn't that be an easy way to figure out if it is a sting?

I wouldn't be surprised if a sleazy NY Post reporter gave him the impression he would be quoted anonymously.

I know it's something of a matter of closing the barn door after most of the animals have fled, but perhaps submitter (and Fark) shouldn't have reprinted the whole name in the headline, on the off chance that the NY Post is forced to remove the name by the guy's lawyer, in which case at least he'd have a shot at only lower pageranked references remaining on the web.

/yeah, I know, [welcometofark.jpg]

That's because most companies don't want hiring managers to have a bias when viewing qualifications.

Pretty much all employers either have HR, or more likely an outsourced 3rd party do a background check that involves social networks and web searches.

If you think these policies are to prevent this info from having an impact, you're mistaken. It's to keep people in certain steps focused on their task at hand and to curb liability.

There's nothing illegal about looking at public information when hiring in any state that I'm aware of (IANAL obviously).

machoprogrammer: If you pulled up to a prostitute and offered her a gig in an adult movie, and she would be paid for her time, would that be soliciting a prostitute or setting up a porn movie filming?

Well, I think the DA looks for the license for filming sexually themed productions. Some states have that requirement, especially since it's a federal requirement to have model records for Attorney General's perusal.

2012-05-07 10:01:12 AM
Again, if it can be given away for free why is it illegal to be sold? Police it and control it in a legal atmosphere. Everyone wins. It removes much of the street corner work from the prostitute and the government can tax it. Require health checkups for all employees every 3 months.

Men busted for patronizing prostitutes in Brooklyn get the choice of a court hearing and possible jail time - or paying $350 to sit through five hours of class time featuring lectures from an HIV-positive hooker and stern assistant district attorneys as well as graphic slides of diseased genitalia.

When it comes to hookers in this country the two arguments are:
1. It should be legal because it serves a good purpose
2. It should be illegal because it degrades and takes advantage of women

What is funny as heck is that I hear both arguments used by the same person all the time. I don't see anything different between a hooker and a drug dealer. One gives you stuff to pop while the other gets popped.

True story..I was driving home one night and a woman waves me down. It was pretty chilly out and I live in a suburb so I was not expecting anything. She was older and seemed non threatening..

So I pull up and she asks if she can bum a ride home. She tells me where she lives, and seeing as it was chilly out, I was like yeah sure. It wasn't far but she was in shorts and a t shirt.

She then asks me to show her my junk. I was like LOLWUT and she tells me to show it to her so she knows I'm not a cop. My heart sank because I had realized how I was in a potentially bad situation. I pulled into an apartment complex and asked her to get out very nicely. She grabbed my crotch , smiled, and walked out.

It was shiatty because , with all the variables, any poor schlub could have gotten into deep shiat there. How do you explain that to an asshole cop? My situation sucked because of the location. I wasn't exactly trolling the known spots to get hookers.

Choices, choices... A city can outlaw hooking and spend millions fighting hooking and lose. They will never defeat the oldest profession. Or they can legalize and regulate it, as so many have found out.

I see no reason why a man cannot buy a little sex. In reality, hookers are the most honest women to be found. They conduct a business. They have neither the time nor the desire to play games.

Maybe if were weren't possessed of a bizarre combination of puritanism and feminism, we would allow women to do with their bodies as they choose. Regulated prostitution would create a market that would put the disease-infected crack hos out of business. Gone, too, would be forced prostitution.

I work in a REALLY bad area.

One Saturday morning at 8AM, I stopped by the gas station by work to get some smokes, when a guy pulls up and is hollering.

I roll my window down, and he asks me "Hey man.. you want a HO?"

I had to think about it for a second before I realized the cracked-out chick in his passenger seat was indeed trying to sell her vagoo for money.

I politely passed and drove the fark away.

When there are several models of how to run prostitution within state condoned areas, checking the health of the sex workers, licensing of the workers, and having prices fixed... it is to laugh how farked up the US is on the oldest profession.

Agreed, the problem here in the US is the religious whackos who pretend they have no illicit sexual urges.

You ask the prostitute to do only naked pictures of herself. No female police officer will do it since it's legal. If she says yes then you can talk about sex at the "set" once she is naked.

Not really. My first reaction was: "The rest learned how not to get caught".

Realistically speaking, only the lowest classes of hooker and john tend to get caught. The ones smart enough to stay off the streets and use other means to 'solicit' such as the internet are statistically extremely unlikely to get caught.

JackieRabbit: Maybe if were weren't possessed of a bizarre combination of puritanism and feminism, we would allow women to do with their bodies as they choose. Actually, European countries that have legalized & regulated prostitution say they have more difficulties with human trafficking and forced prostitution. However, from what I've read, it's not internal to the country, it's women from poor former soviet block countries that are being shipped in. I figure it's a form of ghettoization - because prostitution is only 'legal' in a few areas, the potential johns tend to flock there, exceeding the native supply. Also, with the slavery thing the illegal whores are cheaper than legal. Basically, their illegal status/presence is used against them, much like how pimps in the USA would use the very fact that prostitution is illegal against 'their 'girls.

They should create a similar situation for cops, politicians and public employees. Make them sit through an 8 hour course on citizens' rights, corruption, false statements, etc before they take the oath of office. And have a couiple of convicted lawmakers speak on the subject.
