Good. I like RG3 and hope he does well.

Done in one.

What about that plucky fellow they drafted in the 4th round? He seemed to have a lot of moxie and verve. Surely he needs to be given a fair chance to compete for the top job, or the entire draft system could be seen as a sham! A sham I tell you!

Yeah, espn went into instant qb competition mode when Michigan State's scrappy do-gooder got picked. Sooo... I guess that 's over.

RG3 is a smart QB, seems down to earth. I wish him well but I'd wish him weller if he were donning the mighty aqua and orange this season.

And they still have a point. Suppose Griffin plays like shiat, as rookie quarterbacks have a propensity to do, and Cousins just seems to be farther along? This has happened to the Redskins before, in 1994 with top-3 pick Heath Shuler and 7th-rounder Gus Frerotte.

Trust me, I rememebr the Gus/Heath debacle, it was the frist thing I thought of when they announced they'd drafted Cousins. I also expect at least one "analyst " at some point his season start channeling the ghost of George Marshall and go on at length about how RG III may have "raw" talent and "athleticism", Cousins is more "poised" and "disciplined" and more "intellectual" in his play and that maybe they should Move RGIII to half-back.

Still, while I don't have tons of trust in his judgment overall, Shanny did say there wasn't a single blown play or call on the first day of camp, something he has NEVER seen with a rookie QB in his entire career.

So, the redskins are starting Rex Grossman the 3rd over their 1st round draft pick.

Good to know.

The quotes they are attributing to Mike Shanahan seem to be incorrect. Either, they have the wrong coach or he has is taking ectasy or something. I've never heard him talk like this.

He wants to eschew his system and build the offense around RG3? He says the kid has olympic speed with an NFL arm? He says the kid can execute the playbook and set up formations without error? He says he sees RG3 do things athletically he hasn't seen any other quarterback he has coached do?

Given his age, let's go with dementia ... He'll be on the side lines sending in a play and then BAM he'll be gushing about his QB and then start muttering into the mic wondering why the hell the corporal from charlie company stole his remote instead of getting him a beer when the Germans were attacking at Da Nang during his soaps.

I'd watch that game.

His name is RGIII. Your argument... something something

We want this guy to be good, right? I don't care about the Redskins, but we want the consensus #2 to come in and prove people he should've been #1, right? We want to see a man able to grasp a Shanahan offense and command it with ease, but also have the option to tuck it and show off his blazing speed and never get injured, right?

I hope Rex gets traded to the Broncos. If Manning gets hurt, Dargon and Hanie at the helm, after dissing Orton, would make the Cutler and Marshall thing somehow come full circle...in my brain damaged head, anyway.

No, Kansas City so he can be paired with Orton again when Cassel gets hurt.
