C'mon, Tribe! Tough loss last night to the best team in baseball, nothing to be worried about. Let's get back up and take the rubbermatch!

The Orioles were the only AL East team to win yesterday. And incidentally, if you didn't see Adam Jones' monster home run, take a few moments to correct that.

Also, congratulations go to Braves' pitcher Mike Minor, for not only allowing 10 hits and 8 earned runs in 5 innings' work, but for surrendering a hit to a 49 year-old pitcher. I was going to submit a thread except that Moyer & the Rockies still lost the game.

If you had told me on April 1st that the Mets would be 1 game above .500 on May 6th, I would have laughed at you.

Dickey has the knuckleball working well early in NY.

Ubaldo is actually finding the strike zone today, strikeout leaves the runner stranded at third, 0-0 tie in Cleveland, bottom 1st.

Indians get a single and a walk to start their half of the inning, promptly strikeout. pop out and ground out to end the first.

About the only teams performing to expectations so far are the Rangers and Royals. Strange start to the season this year all around.

Didn't the Royals just take 2 of 3 from the Yankees? It'll be interesting to see how much the loss of Rivera will hurt the Yanks long-term.

Ralph Kiner is on the Mets broadcast talking about knuckleballers from the 40s. That is so awesome. He's still sharp as a tack.

Ubaldo gets first two outs, then walks the bases loaded. Holy Christ.

Little bit of both. The O's are off to a hot start and the Sox have possibly the worst starting rotation in baseball.

Pitching has been remarkably good so far, the bullpen I believe still has the best ERA in baseball at the moment. We'll see how well the arms hold up as the season goes on.

Jeter leads the 1st inning off with a double and the Yankees strand him because... well... because everyone hitting after Granderson is a black hole of suck this year

2012-05-06 02:21:37 PM
I guess this is the year the new guard finally takes over.

The Nationals have turned all of their prospects into major leaguers,

Tampa Bay has become the braves of the 90s with developing starter after starter (and man do I want David Price on the Yankees).

The Yankees and Red Sox have been signing free agent after free agent, but that strategy seems to have hit the wall this year (Miami, Angels).

I'm wondering if the second wild card spot is making teams like the Orioles, Blue Jays and Mets play harder than normal. Knowing that while a team may run away with the first spot, the second third and fourth spots are usually a much tighter race.

He's pitched four innings, given up two hits and no runs. You might be okay.

Yeah, but JJ's ricocheted off something, Jones' got to the parking lot on the fly.

Weird thing happened to me yesterday during the O's game. After they got up to that 8-0 lead, I still went through the motions of expecting them to lose anyway, but it was mostly an act. This is the first time since the '90s that I don't really expect them to somehow blow it every time.

I think we all need to take a minute to quietly reflect on how awesome Austin Jackson has been so far this season.

I don't think Rivera would have had any impact on those three games.
