EABOD Subby

Oh yea , subby? I will actually enjoy both thanksmuch.

Nice to see the Nationals park has 60 Min IPA on tap. I've had the Stone at Petco. Both beat out anything I've seen at Dodger Stadium. Feels like all I can get there is Coors Light or Corona. Ugh

Great American in Cincinnati has a couple different morelein handles that are pretty good.

Subby sounds Canadian.

9. Target Field, Minnesota Twins

Highlight reel: Cynic ale

Seems appropriate.

"Most baseball parks have caught on with the craft beer wave."

So, uh, what's the difference between a craft beer and a microbrew?

Oh lookie this beer is "hand crafted" with spice notes, and zest, and flavorful undertones, and harmonic frequencies, and subtle nuances, and glorious texture, and savory hints of applewood blah freaking blah. Pretentious beer snobs are pretentious!

Mmmmmm.....Green Flash & Petco

Subby probably likes to watch a couple midfielders pass a soccer ball back and forth for 90 minutes.

6. AT&T Park, San Francisco Giants

This ballpark highlights some of the finest California breweries: Anchor, Sierra Nevada, 21st Amendment and Highwater.

Highlight Reel: Anchor Steam

No mention of Gordon Biersch? Massive fail there...

Two rules to make baseball better:

1. Any throw to any base at any time by the pitcher not directly after a batted ball that does not record an out is ruled a balk.
2. If you change pitchers during the opponent's at-bat, the bases clear and all count as runs.

Baseball is fine and those ideas are retarded.

CavalierEternal: Baseball is fine and those ideas are retarded.

Because if there's anything good about baseball, it's listening to the announcers talk for 20 minutes about their grandma's apple pie recipe while the new pitcher warms up because they brought a lefty up to bat.

Baseball is stupid and YOU are stupid for thinking it is fine. In what other sport can you remove half the present line-up on offense AND defense, and have no observable effect on the game? It's keep-away from the guy with the stick. Wow, that's entertainment.

The only thing baseball needs to speed up is to reduce the number of between-inning commercials to a pre-Selig level.

The game's been the same for over one hundred years. There's no need to go changing it now just because your average American in the year 2012 has the attention span of a Hot Pocket and isn't entertained if they can't watch car wrecks or guys beating the sh*t out of each other. Go follow the NHL playoffs if you have a problem with the way baseball is played. We don't want or need you as a fan.

You are wrong. You live in Madison, and, as such, are required to constantly drink from the selection of New Glarus offerings available to you, for those of us who can't.

Glad to see Safeco and Petco on the list. I have not been to all parks yet (still need to go to AT&T and Philly), but those two - for the reasons given - are two of my favorites. I love Mac & Jack's African Amber with a pulled-pork sammich.

Miller Park has good local craft beer. But Leinie? Really? That stuff is for folks who don't want to drink macro-swill, but haven't yet figured out what good beer is.

2012-05-06 04:47:40 PM
Comerica has a couple of Atwater stands, but that's all I've seen in terms of good beer at the concession stands. Which is pretty disappointing given the number of good breweries in Michigan (Founders, Bell's, Arcadia, New Holland, Short's, Dark Horse, etc.). Although, the Tigers' AA club in Grand Rapids, the West Michigan Whitecaps, do have Founders at their ballpark. Yes, this is the same ballpark that is the home of the Fifth Third Burger.

Baseball really could use dodgeball-style tag outs in that you get to just drill runners with throws.

And we can all agree that it was to the game's detriment.

/I like the idea of someone just intentionally drilling a runner after he'shiat the bag.

Labatt and Molson aren't any better than their American macro equivalents.

Hell, they're not even really Canadian anymore. Molson is merged together with Coors now, and Labatt is a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev.

Don't get me wrong, Canada makes some fine beer. I'm particularly partial to the products of Unibroue. But Labatt is not good beer.

2012-05-06 10:24:30 PM
Another reason I hate the new Yankee Stadium - crappy beer selection.

2012-05-06 11:39:22 PM
One of my great disappointments about Progressive Field in Cleveland is how difficult it is to get something by Great Lakes Brewing Co, rather than the usual swill. They have it, but I think only at one or two stands.

2012-05-06 11:58:34 PM
IMO, any stadium or arena constructed in part by public tax dollars should be required to support the local economy by having local craft beer available at all concessions.

2012-05-07 12:12:08 AM
This is in AT&T Park in San Francisco: http://publichousesf.com/menu/ It's legit, and you can bring it into the game.

You have to be a major prissy to worry about what "craft beer" is served at a ball park

Man up....If you drink beer like you are being manhandled by your wife/husband to go to some winery tour....you should not be drinking beer in the first place

I miss the days when a "beer was a beer"

EponymousCowHerd: One of my great disappointments about Progressive Field in Cleveland is how difficult it is to get something by Great Lakes Brewing Co, rather than the usual swill. They have it, but I think only at one or two stands.

That's how it is at most parks as well. At Target Field in Minneapolis Surly is only available in a couple spots, and the lines are super long because there is a beer that they only brew for the ballpark, rightfully named Bandwagon.

Spoken like a true moron who has no idea what beer should be. There was a time in this world, not so long ago, where all beer was "craft beer." When ingredients and water sources were guarded secrets, and the people who made them were held in the highest esteem. It's fine that you like to drink swill, but to deny that there is something better is pure ignorance.

I don't need them to wreck or beat on each other. However, I'd like them to do SOMETHING.

Moreover, the game changes all the time. Designated hitter, the number of strikes in an out or balls for a base on balls, the ground rule double the height of the mound... So stop displaying your lack of understanding of the evolution of the game.

The game is snoozeball because almost everyone there is just standing there doing nothing.

Indeed...I've never in my life turned down free hockey or football tickets, but I've turned down DOZENS of free MLB tix. Not even worth the price of parking much of the time.

[csb time]
When I was in middle school, we used to play wiffle ball in this manner, in addition to actually tagging bases for force outs. Made it more interesting. Ground ball back to the box? With not enough players to man positions (there were usually only 3 or 4 of us), it could get a little interesting. Dodging the "tag" throw or a race to the base became part of the game. I must admit, it was great fun.
[/end csb]

I like the beer options at my local park (CBP), but the price - not so much.

There's a Michigan Brewing stand tucked away into the corner off the 1st base line entrance. Has a good selection of Bell's. Oberon on tap. Also the boneless wings are pretty cheap for how much you get.
