Come on Blues, at least don't make it easy for them!

2012-05-06 12:27:31 PM
Indeed. Going into the playoffs I was kind of leaning towards the Blues going all the way, now I'm just hoping that they don't get swept.

Happy birthday Marty, not a bad way to celebrate your 40th.

/as a hockey fan I like the way the Kings are looking
//however as a Ducks fan I'm forbidden by law to root for them....

I'm reminded of the time the LA Kings said "You're Welcome" to Canada on their Twitter feed. And then everybody said, "Ya, why don't you wait until the Canucks are eliminated!?!?!"

As much as I don't want to see STL getting swept, I don't see them avoiding it.

I'm cool with that happening again. :D

The candles have to be lit for longer than 4 seconds to burn down a building. Marty undoubtedly blew them out instantly before diving in, face first, like it was the hooha of his sister-in-law.

Actually, the NHL might like that, no? Having Phoenix in the SCF would bolster the NHL case for keeping the team in the desert and not relocating it to Quebec City (or anywhere else, for that matter). I would think that the team's playoff run would help with ticket sales next season. As for New Jersey, it has not been without ownership issues recently, so being in the Cup final would also be good.

/Still, it would be a ratings killer
//I certainly wouldn't watch it

I don't know.

It already has:

Coyotes President Mike Nealy said the franchise plans to capitalize on the attention from such new fans.

The franchise sold 50 season-ticket packages on Monday alone and is already ahead of its renewal rate for all of last year, he said.

"As expected, when the team is winning, people like to be part of it," Nealy said. "We welcome any late comers and welcome others back.

Without completely rehashing the argument we had in the thread two days ago, Phoenix is going to be juuuuuuust fine now that they're actually winning. Turns out making it past the first round of the playoffs for the first time in franchise history helped a lot - who knew?

Yep. But once you see NHL on TSN without McQuire... hockey is more awesome.

Yeah, and I'm SURE all those people will renew their tickets for 2013 if the Coyotes finish in 10th place next year.

You sure on that? I know that for the first round, they went back and forth picking series. It might just be a coincidence that CBC has the two East series this time.

Some of them will, but the team will almost definitely have a bigger fanbase as a result of this postseason. And if the NHL can find an owner, then I think the team will be set.

Fun fact: according to NBC, the Blues have only held the lead for seven and a half minutes so far in the series.
