First, the arena was 70% full, so does that mean that you endorse 70% of Obama's economic ideas. And second, thanks for my daily dose of the U-6 rate. Why does that only matter when a democrat is president? Do you know who was president the last time U-6 was this high?

RexTalionis: That picture was from when they were starting to let people in. Here's what it looks like when it was actually starting (youtube video).

The stadium wasn't empty. It was packed.

Yeah, looks pretty packed to me, according to this video, and having been in the arena before.

Interesting to me, why, if one is trying to prove that a rally is poorly-attended, would you take only one picture? Or even two or three? Every digital camera now has the capacity to take video. Think the crowd is sparse, take a video and post it on-line for all to see. Seems to me, trying to predicted the outcome of an election based on ONE photograph of dubious provenance is the errand of fools. Which is why this thread is now pushing 200 comments.

If you took away photos of dubious provenance there would be no Breitbart.com. Of course, you could achieve the same thing if you barred errands of fools.

Dancin_In_Anson: EnviroDude: when I graduated in the 1980's in my field, you couldn't buy a job. Many of my fellow Petroleum Engineering grads made money grabbing grocery carts at the local market before they could get any job in the oil field, much less practicing engineering (or petroleum geology for those).

I worked with a PE who was training as a cafeteria manager in Lubbock in 1987 during the bust. Starting salary was $19,200 annually. I figure that was a little less than he was making in the Patch but he was doing what he had to do.

Some will do whatever it takes to get by. Others will do little more than biatch about how hard life is.

I normally dislike you, but I have to give you a thumbs up for mentioning Lubbock.

Having been recently unemployed, I can empathize for those trying to find work. I ended up taking a "Wendy's Job", a job where you are so desperate to work, you would work at a Wendy's if you had to do it.

So don't be so presumptuous about my history because I criticize Obama and his failed policies.

The Lone Gunman: Flappyhead: NeverDrunk23: The one crowd that matters the most is the one outside polling stations on election day.

You mean Obamas Black Panther goons?

Yeah, whatever happened to those two guys?

They stood outside of a polling place in Philly...and, living here, I'm not certain that there were so many GOPs to intimidate. A conservative blogger started to cover them as they were being taken away and two conservative lawyers yelled at him to stop reporting on it because they already had it covered. And, and this is the part that gets me, we never heard from them again.

Now, one could whine about a liberal media conspiracy, but surely Fox News would be interested in talking to those two, right? And they wanted to be visible enough to be seen at a polling place and had all these pictures taken of them but not enough to go on friggin TV?

So these guys would've added ZERO chances to Obama's electability and could only possibly serve to make him look like he had the support of militant radicals. And then they vanish.

I'm a pretty sharp cat, but I need this explained to me.

It's actually pretty easy.

In 2008 the Republican party realized at some point that they were sunk and became desperate. Their media arm, Fox News, got a whiff of a story happening in Philly regarding a couple of NPP morans standing outside a polling station (one was actually a polling monitor who was supposed to be there) acting like idiots.

They immediately put the story on high rotation during the course of the day while people were still voting.

Proof positive that the GOP were still employing the Southern Strategy big time.

The subtext was obvious "Vote against the scary black man or this is your future, White America!"

I defy any person ITT to try to explain away that obvious bit of national race baiting as being anything other than a last ditch, desperate ultimately unsuccessful ploy to bring out the racist vote in 2008.

The fact that it is 2012 here and people still bring it up as if the story made the Dems looks bad is freaking hilarious to me.

Anyone who asserts that those two morans scared away a single GOP voter that day is an idiot.

Anyone who doesn't realize how much racist sentiment was deliberately stirred up by that story and it's subsequent replays is brain dead.

TL,DR?

I get it, they're racist.

Doktor_Zhivago: Here's the thing I don't understand about Republican Obama hate: There's all these things that he's actually done that are total bullshiat that he should be called on. Assassination of american citizens without due process, expansion of the NSA wiretapping programs, his continued support of the clusterfark that is Afghanistan, his refusal to do anything useful while the Syrians murder each other by the thousands in the streets (I know they don't have any oil...), his cuddling up to the big banks on wall street while talking about 'regulations' and 'main street not wall street' etc...

But no. They feel the need to just make shiat up. He's Kenyan, He's a communist. He's a muslim. He can't even fill an arena even though its pretty obvious to everyone who gets their news from anywhere other than fox/breifart that he can. Why make shiat up? I don't get it. Is the truth not enough to attack him with?
