Who spends 10 hours a day doing any single activity, let alone children watching porn? If they have short attention spans they'll get bored long before that.

With so much porn available, it will be interesting to see how this new generation will deal with real world relationships when they've never really had to work for their porn.

If you want to consider yourself a good parent, you need to not allow your young children to have free computer access. Put a password on your computer, don't give the password to the child(ren), and make sure you have good filters. We use Net Nanny.

For older children, I would also be quite strict. Keep the computer in the living room, or somewhere it can be seen easily. Monitor their use and check on their surfing, in their sight and out of it. Let them know YOU ARE IN CHARGE. You care about them enough to make sure they don't see things that will worry and warp them for the rest of their lives.

At a certain age, you won't be able to protect them anymore. Keep them safe while you can, and you can consider yourself a good parent!

Oh and the sanctimonious prudes start their "tut-tutting"
Ooooh. sex is Dirty. Must keep it from the kiddies (and everyone else)

Censorship, Politicians love it. Right, left, doesn't matter. Just the possibility of reducing freedom of speech and expression makes them all tingly inside.

Well, if we lived in a SANE society, this wouldn't be a big deal-- good quality sex ed. would put that porn into realistic perspective.

It still amazes me that we Americans are just fine with all the violence and gore on TV but everybody freaks the fark out if a female nipple is shown for a quarter second.

Maybe this would be a workable compromise:

FTFA: "Mr Mittiga said some porn merchants were targeting kids by making pornography featuring cartoon and children's book characters."

You can tell he is an activist from the way he said that. "targeting" is a bit of a jump of reasoning. Instead all the content is not intended for the intellectual adult as much as the lowest common denominator. More of the "typical voter" than any child is the target audience. Stuff that is complicated does not sell.

OH what the fark ever. I'm 27, and was basically the first generation to be raised on the internet. We were considered nerds back then, but whatever, I had my own computer in my bedroom with internet access from the 4th grade until today. Yes, I looked at porn.

What exactly happens to a person who sees other people naked? What kind of a monster are you suddenly mutated in to? You're kind of a moron.

I watched the TED presentation called "The Great Porn Experiment" which made VERY compelling arguments on how porn is damaging to the male psyche. Never once was morality mentioned in the talk, rather the guy discussed how a males sex drive and reward centers of the brain are affected.

Personally, I think that parents need to take an active roll in educating their kids on what is real and what is not. If you catch your kid surfing porn, talk to them about it...yeah, it is perfectly fine and natural to be interested in such stuff...but don't shame them, punish them, yell at them...

I am not concerned about a little nudity on TV or the internet. I am concerned about the kids that grow up watching degrading and bizarre porn. I doubt that stuff is good for anyone, but it certainly can't be good for kids just growing into their sexuality.

You are not completely normal. You are a Farker. That's very abnormal... antisocial, even. Internet porn at a young age is to blame in your case, as noted in your own admission. Therefore, the article's main assertion is quite correct.

You pervert.

Hell, half the fun of watching porn when I was younger was sneaking into my uncle's room, fixing the VCR, manually rewinding the tape that got pulled out some how, re-ending the coax, and making sure the grandparents didn't hear any of it.

There is a fine line between intentionally sheltering your kids from that stuff, and giving them the knowledge to accept that it is out there and let them avoid it on there own.

Its almost the same as swear words. I don't run my children out into public with headphones on, nor do I freak out every time someone drops an F-bomb. My 3 year old is quite aware of what words I feel she she should not be using, and that just because others may use the words does not mean she should. If you've ever had to google for "Hello Kitty", even with safesearch on, you know certain things are unavoidable. I'll still do my part to avoid certain situations from happening, but I certainly don't want my daughter freaking out if something inappropriate hits the screen.

Life happens, I'd like for her to have the ability to cope with it.

I don't know where to find good (free) porn on the Internet, where should I look?

USENET used to be the source but that seems to have changed in recent years and now it's almost 100% spam and offtopic posts.

easy access to porn is going to make a better world tomorrow, at least for america. the retarded false victorian morality has lingered far too long. nudity is natural, sex is beautiful. easy access porn will quickly make it a 'meh' type of thing. exposure and education is how we learn.

too many americans have grown up in households where parents taught the children absolutely nothing about their bodies or their sexuality. lies and falsehoods were learned on the street. knowledge is power, knowing porn stars doubly so.

That is a fine line that should be crossed frequently. How much sheltering is appropriate depends on the age and maturity of the child. I don't think a five year old needs to know about DaycareDeadDogFarker.

I'm not going to say much here, else I will be attacked by the multitudes of porn-loving Farkers, but I think looking at a lot of porn does something to you. Even if it just makes you jealous because you start thinking that everyone in the world is living in a Penthouse fantasy letter except you, how is that healthy?

And that too. Sweetie, I don't do some of those things. And before you started looking at internet porn six hours a day, you wouldn't have asked. No, I'm not going to wax it either.

I think that the damage is more to females than males. One version has it that men expect a sex fantasy instead of a real female. The other version is with great spanking material, men don't have to put up with all the ancillary female drama and other nonsense to have great (albethey solo) sexual experiences. Not terribly different from women over the last couple of generations needing men less because they have better economic options, but that's why women have to whore it up these days to get any attention at all.

That said, most of the concern either way is utterly overblown.

This is a really difficult issue for parents, even more so for single parents like me. Caught my 14yo son surfing porn...again. He is now banned from the home pc till next school year. I can't have his mother go to the court and say I give him free access to porn. He even had the nerve to order (using my card) "natural male enhancements" from some site. I'm more pissed about my card than the porn honestly.
I remember being 14, we had to steal playboys from our dads or find weathered porn mags in the woods.

/I don't want him thinking DVDA or ATM is normal.
