You will not that she had to clarify her statement of the majority of Americans to the ones who happen to support this move...

Wow, maybe it's time to leave this state.

"By signing this measure into law I stand with the majority of Americans who oppose the use of taxpayer funds for abortion," Brewer said in a statement.

Planned Parenthood has always been forbidden from using federal and/or tax funds for abortion provision.

But officials at Planned Parenthood Arizona, the state's largest abortion provider, said the law means that thousands of women in the state may now go without life-saving cancer screenings, birth control and basic health care.

Yes. Like MY WIFE. F*CK YOU, JAN BREWER.

"Abortion-centered businesses like Planned Parenthood do not need or deserve taxpayer dollars," Marilyn Musgrave, vice president of government affairs for the organization, said in a written statement.

Abortions comprise three percent -- that's it, just three percent -- of Planned Parenthood's operations

F*CK YOU, BREWER. F*CK YOU, GOP.

God must love poor people, because he made so dang many. Jan just wants to be sure that Arizona is basking in God's love. Afterall, when the illegals leave, someone's got to cutting the lawns and tearing down subdivisions...

You know, right before the water runs out, and they have to abandon the whole damn metro area.

There's other hockey teams that need chefs.

Also, enjoy the Peter Hamilton. You're going to have to re-read the intro later on. You're going to have trouble following the amount of stuff he throws at you right away. Fun series, terrible ending.

I'm re-reading it. Got the series when it came out, but in a cycle of going back and reading stuff again. After the Dysfunction series, going to hit Alan Steele's Near Space stuff, because Alan does working class science fiction better than anyone else.

Looking to relocate in NY--Rochester region. Waiting for a banquet chef to leave at a placement with my old company. Closer to my daughter, and a lot more stables for the girl critter to put her horse up at.

You think relocating with a dog is a pain in tochis, try a damn Appaloosa...

Added to the list.

But yeah, I've never found a more literal deux ex machina ending than that series. I don't know how else he could end it, but seriously.

So Arizona taxpayers won't pay for prenatal care or abortion, but when those unwanted children whose mothers had no support grow up to be criminals, Arizona taxpayers will pay for them to go to prison.

The governor is supporting a highly organized, vocal minority dead set against abortion. In a state like Arizona, she won't lose any points since that minority is part of the Republican conglomerate that includes birthers, bigots, conservatives, corporations, etc.

I, for what it's worth, support women's right to choose and funding for those less fortunate than myself for prenatal care and reproductive services. So I vote and support the Democratic Party.

Isn't it a shame that true conservatives are stuck with so many crazies? If the Democratic Party was bat-shiat crazy with extreme environmentalists, pacifists, and far-left agendas, my support would go elsewhere. Guess Republicans enjoy being dysfunctional, like their last President and the current House.

FTFA Arizona does not provide tax dollars for abortion, but backers said the law is needed to make sure that no indirect monies are funneled to organizations like Planned Parenthood that provide abortion and other health services. There were no estimates of how much money is involved.

Are they going to stop maintaining the street in front of the clinic as well? Because that also constitutes indirect funding of Planned Parenthood.

You want to move TO Rochester or away? If to, try Victor or Farmington - lots of stables around, not too far from the highway that takes you into the city...

It's funny.

When the GOP pushed through the Faith-based initiatives, they promised us that no government money would go to the promotion of religion, then started giving money to religious organizations.

The same argument they use to shut down PP should be applied to all Faith-based initiatives as well.

Three percent of all Planned Parenthood health services are abortion services.

Included in these "abortion services" is counseling which may convince a woman to not pursue an abortion.

Use of tax dollars already not going to abortions aside, let's just defund the whole damn thing so we may make our fantasy that much more legitimate. Fark you, fundies. Fark you so very much.

I started giving $15 a month to PP starting earlier this month. Actually it was specifically because of the climate in Texas at the time. Hope they funnel a few cents towards AZ now.

/Fact: 1 out of 5 women in this country has used Planned Parenthood services at some point in their lives

As radical and extreme and unhinged as Brewer may seem to the outside world, in Arizona she's only down 1%.

"a new poll from Public Policy Polling finds. 46% of voters approve of the Governor's job performance while 47% disapprove." (Feb 23, 12)

If I were Planned Parenthood I'd just pull up stakes and leave the state. Let the politicians deal with the fallout at the polls.

2012-05-05 02:18:46 PM

Lenny_da_Hog: The same argument they use to shut down PP should be applied to all Faith-based initiatives as well.

Not quite.

While politically impossible, it would be perfectly legal for the state to fully subsidize every abortion performed there. In contrast, it's unconstitutional for the state to provide money to subsidize performance of religious rituals.

So, faith-based initiatives are even worse by this measure.

It's really only Sun City and Snottsdale that make up the core of the GOP loonies here. All the rest of us have been convicted of some felony or another and can't vote.
