This is a great lineup for a free card. I'm stoked. Jim Miller is a beast, but I have my questions about his ability to overcome Diaz's reach and boxing. Seems like their jiu jitsu should just about cancel out, but I think Miller has to be the better pure wrestler. Very interesting fight, and now that I said all of that it will probably be a first round knockout victory for Miller.

Kos vs. Hendricks should answer some interesting questions.

Barry is always fun to watch.

Belcher vs. Palhares is kind of out of left field to me, but I can't wait to see it.

Odd choice, I usually pick Barry via leg murder. Also I'm thinking maybe the loser of Hendricks/Kos gets Macdonald.

I've got Miller in the main, I don't trust the wrestling defense of the Diaz idiots until they prove it. Granted, Nate looked incredible against Cerrone, but Miller isn't stupid and will force Diaz to prove he can wrestle. He hasn't proven it yet, so why bet on a guy with that kind of hole in his game? Miller by decision.

I don't trust Koschek's head to be in it, so give me Hendricks by TKO. 3rd round. If Koschek is mentally in the building, then maybe his experience will win out, but I'm guessing he won't want to be there.

Palhares does too much dumb shiat, Belcher will catch him. I hate that Belcher too often lets his opponent dictate the terms, but I'm betting he knows what he has to do tonight and will get the job done. Belcher by 2nd round TKO.

Barry decisions Johnson with class. The world is full of huge guys like Johnson who can beat up cans. And Barry will trade with him, which is dangerous, but a fighter has to PROVE he's in a certain class before being annointed as such, and Johnson will have to prove that tonight. Barry kicks his leg ten gazillion times for the W.

I'll be here for the main card, but right now I'm hiding out in the Talladega Ricky Bobby car thread laughing at the hilarity of the Nationwide race.

I hope Miller out points Diaz, just to see if he'll throw a hissy fit too.

That would be good motivation to win, but I think he's ready for any and all comers. People tend to forget that he beat up the #2 guy for 2.5 rounds at age 20 and has gotten a LOT better and bigger since then.

3 very solid fights on the main card, but none are truly main event calibur. barry/johnson has no business being on the main card, the ufc is just expecting a guaranteed knockout.

dodson on the prelims is kinda tragic.

I haven't, but his competition since hasn't exactly been all world. Don't get me wrong, I think he deserves a re-match with Condit, but I think beating a top ten opponent is a necessary step. If he can rearrange Koschek or Hendricks it'll effectively silence detractors who will try to claim he's only getting a shot because he's GSPs training partner.

Yeah, they've handled him very oddly, whih is out of character for Zuffa. Threw him to the wolves as a teenager, now taking him slow for a few years... WTF? The only good explanation I can think of is that they want to keep the GSP money mahine going for as long as possible.

True, but partner vs. partner does sell(especially if they can swing an instant re-match) and MacDonald recently stated if he had to fight St. Pierre he would. I think a better explanation would be that Zuffa knows Jon Jones is a once-in-a-decade fighter and that by pushing Rory too far too fast they might burn him out.

Huh? Unless Rory has done a complete 180 in the last 3 days, he's dead set on not fighting GSP. Both have repeatedly said they'd rather go to 185 instead of fight the other.

Plus putting him up against GSP too early might diminish his value. Better to build McDonald up until he's improved even more and is a bigger draw. Best case for money is timing it just as Georges is starting his decline, with McDonald winning a close battle. Then you replace one dominant champ with another (assuming McDonald turns out to be as good as it looks he'll be).

Maybe milk it for a huge rematch as well.

Hmmm. I was watching an interview with him on UFC Connected and he said something along the lines of while he's not thinking about a fight with St. Pierre or even concerning himself with the possibility he did say it was something he'd have to deal with eventually. I may have read a little too much into that, but it is a fairly open ended comment.
