How pants-shiattingly, mind-bendingly, "autoerotically crucified oneself to the episode where 'Blossom' got her period and realized too late there was no free hand to take the Kroger's bag off the head" stupid does a person have to be to not realize the difference between voter REGISTRATION fraud (which has no real impact on an election) and actual VOTER fraud (which happens less often than Calista Gingrich using her Dollar Tree Frequent Shopper Card)?

Here's a quick tip -- only one of them tells a veteran who's also a lifelong voter that she isn't allowed to cast a ballot. Link

I do indeed. You are either lying by implying that those names might have voted, or stupid enough to believe that these laws are designed to combat voter fraud as opposed to disenfranchising minorities and the poor.

Why don't they just attempt a coup? It would be so much more honest.

Funny things that happen after IDs are required:
- the issuers of those IDs hide that they are actually free and do not provide that information openly in some places
- issuing locations are closed or moved from certain districts causing travel issues
- perfectly valid government issued photo IDs are declared invalid

I like how this article is considered partisan by the trolls. It is funny that any conservative would want to spin this in any other way then mission accomplished. I guess panties aren't ever able to be untwisted. So a modest proposal is maybe only whites get to vote, would that make you happy?

All you need to do is prove that your grandfather voted.

If you look at the source for this paragraph of an "article" you'll see voter registrations by whites are also down by roughly the same percentage.

One might think so... however, they seem to be quite proud of their nefarious tactics.

The really odd troubling thing is how often they pretend that their deity wants them to do what they're doing. It makes it extremely difficult to reason with people when they believe they are on some kind of "holy crusade" against "evil"... perhaps impossible. They've grown so vicious and incapable of caring about their fellow man that I sometimes fear that they have reached an "event horizon" of sorts from which there is no return.

By far the largest percentage of voter fraud comes from felons voting, which isn't stopped by a voter ID law. These laws are designed to hand control of who gets to vote over to the elected officials. They are only passed by the GOP, because only the GOP sees nothing wrong with destroying democracy to win.

"Voter rolls typically shrink in non-presidential election years and registrations among whites fell at roughly the same rate, "

http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/voter-registration-down-among- h ispanics-blacks/2012/05/04/gIQAOqEY1T_story.html?hpid=z1

Here in FL we've had photo ID voting for a long time. The part of the law they changed has to do with voter ID drives. The new law requires groups doing voter registration drives to themselves register with the state and promise to follow certain guidelines. This makes it less likely that the supervisors of elections will be inundated with fake registration forms. In 2008 many groups did registration drives by hiring bums and paying them per completed form and (surprise) those bums often just makes up names and addresses and turned them in. Granted, there is no evidence that this led to voter fraud, but it was a PITA for our supervisors of elections nonetheless.

heinrich66: Might also be because Hope and Change didn't work out that people are just staying home.

I thought conventional wisdom was people stayed home when they were satisfied. People go out when they're pissed. that's why voters have to be 'fired up'.... they're complacent and okay with the way things are.

2012-05-05 09:09:24 AM
Also if you don't have a photo ID, your original long form birth certificate will suffice.

What is wrong with felons that they shouldn't get to vote? If they aren't in prison, why do you care? Is it because you like to punish people with backwards draconian laws?

They've fetishized evil. It's why they can't help themselves and push so hard in the War on Women during an election year, when it would clearly be in their best interest to lay low and wait until they have several uninterrupted years to turn them into second-class citizens. It's just too tantalizingly evil to stay away from. They don't understand nor do they care to understand the principle of governance, instead they simply inflict themselves on others and measure their success by how much the country suffers for their presence.

The GOP is bound together by the principle "be the absolute worst person you can possibly be".

The only decrease in the past 40 years and it's due to the struggling economy. Yup. I guess the economy didn't tank out at least one other time during the past 40 years, like during the '82 midterms or anything like that, and we didn't have way higher unemployment than we do now. Nope. I guess there wasn't a presidential election in '76 or anything, when unemployment was just a few tenths lower than it is now. Nope. This time is so very different. Yup. All of the newly-introduced voter ID laws couldn't possibly be the germane variable causing the decrease. Nope.

Since actual cases of voter identity fraud occurs on the scale of 'a few parts per ten million', and the crime is high-risk/negligible-reward, I guess voter ID laws are meant to buckle up security and not to disenfranchise countless thousands of voters.

I wonder if we have records or good estimates of how many people actually did relocate across state lines for work in the last few years, and how many new residents registered in each state. I tend to think that sort of mobility is really key in adapting to changing economies, but I hadn't considered the issues of voter registration that go along with it. It would be good to have data beyond the article's claims.

Take a pill. I didn't pass the law that takes away a felon's right to vote, I merely recognize its existence. Of the very few cases of voter fraud in an election, most of them are due to felons voting even though they aren't allowed. And a voter ID law does nothing to stop that.

Whether it's okay to deny felons the right to vote is a separate issue. Wipe the spittle from your chin and settle down.

Which is complete bullshiat. And even if that was remotely true in many states its perfectly legal for felons to vote once they serve their probation.

/vote fraud is virtually non-existent in this country

Blacks could get to vote in 3 out of every 5 elections. It'll satisfy those who feel we should go back to the original Constitution.

If you're going to blame new voting laws, then you should see a big difference between the states with Republican-led state legislatures and those with Democrats leading the state legislature. This article doesn't mention that such a difference exists, ergo, it probably doesn't exist, ergo, something other than new laws is to blame.

LOUD NOISES.

I don't think that felons in the scheme of things is an issue. The bigger issue in my not so humble opinion is our voting system, which allows for a two party system.
