One of the more difficult things to reconcile is how generous the Kochs have been to their philanthropic support of arts and science, while clearly supporting politicians that would gladly gut funding to these sorts of endeavours. Never mind their support of candidates that simply distrust science on all levels, including, as you point out, young earth creationists.

One senses that they like the politics of individualism, but wouldn't mind beating a little sense into these people on the science side.


They've also given tons of money to the ACLU - they aren't fans of the Patriot Act either.

/people are complicated - go figure
