Good.

How about you, Fox News? How come you don't fire YOUR liars?

Shame on them, but good that they're cleaning house. And fark, may I say, that assclown Bozell and his bullshiat organization.

Well, at least they are firing those who did Breitbart said call. Its not like the originator of the term "Breitbarting" actually did anything about his run-a-muck operation

Am I having a stroke or did you have an extra pop, being Friday and all, before you typed that? That first sentence makes my brain hurt...

If Fox employees had edited a recorded conversation to make a progressive look sinister, they would have been promoted.

In the report involving Luciano, audio of the police phone call was edited to insert a reference to Martin's race that had been made later in the conversation.

Yet we still have r-tards here throwing the race cards like confetti.

In order to bring sensational journalism, sometimes things need to be edited.

Aww, I was enjoying watching the media try this case.

You know, their story is not at all that much better and certainly not worth the trouble.

Hey, nothing wrong with selective editing to take a conversation completely out of context. Fueling a race war is all fun and games so long as the right victims have been chosen. Integrity, double standards, why bother? Who needs racial equality when sowing discord is so much more satisfying?

2012-05-04 10:17:32 PM
Am I reading this right? There were two separate and independent instances of journalists deciding to edit out the dispatcher's question about Travon's race?
Why would even one journalist think that that edit was a good idea?

Got any references for this?

Yup. I was going to take a shot at Fox here, too. Glad to see it get done in the Boobies.

Detecting possible jokiness... unsure.

There's actually a conservative media conspiracy, the first order of which is to claim there is a liberal media conspiracy.
It's very simple: Who owns these networks? Rich people. All rich people are fiscally conservative, and most are socially conservative as well (at least publicly) . Yes they are. Just admit it.

Are you telling me that these rich people don't simply divide and conquer the plebeians by controlling the narrative and pitting 'liberals and conservatives' or 'democrats and republicans' against each other? If it hasn't been the plot of a TV cop drama, it's simply too difficult for many to grasp.

It's the illusion of choice.

It's a Mediaopoly.

So, NBC is holding people accountable for their (big) mistakes.

Isn't that what we want from a media outlet? Accountability?

Of course, Fox News hides behind the fact that their "reporters" aren't reporters, but rather op-ed pieces, so they can say anything they want, yet still behind the "News" logo.

The liberal media is conspiring to fire journalists that breach journalistic ethics!

I'll bite.

The fact that they are firing the offenders is in fact proof there is no liberal media bias.

It still amazes me in this day and age anyone would be willing to risk their career doing something as stupid as this. Do they really think with all the public access to information that they won't get caught?

I'd have said that, but while I don't use the Ignore option because I like the entertainment I get, I prefer not to feed the less-amusing underpass dwellers.

Don't hold your breath on that one. NewsCorp's CEO condones phone hacking.

Zimmerman has such a long list of people to sue after the charges against him are dropped, I wonder where he'll start?

glass_ibis: Am I reading this right? There were two separate and independent instances of journalists deciding to edit out the dispatcher's question about Travon's race?

Well, you have to remember that the original narrative was that George Zimmerman was a white guy living in a gated community who had sympathies to the tea party, listened to talk radio and was an outspoken bigot.

It wasn't later until we learned that he is half white/hispanic, living in a 51% non-white community who is a registered democrat and tutors black kids on the weekend. I can see where frantic editors were being forced to come with anything and everything that painted him in a negative light.

Because that's the only possible reason to think that race was a factor.

Sort of like how Dubya became a war hero after the Dan Rather thing.

Regarding Fox, does anyone here know the difference between news segments and opinion shows, or shows with commentators?
This instance was news reporting. There is a substantial distinction.

The same thing is true of every stupid person and criminal who breaks the law, dumbass.

Nobody ever got executed for murder, they got executed for being caught afterward.

Ghastly: It still amazes me in this day and age anyone would be willing to risk their career doing something as stupid as this. Do they really think with all the public access to information that they won't get caught?

I don't know rather to be amazed or frightened by it. Did people like this get to the positions they held by using similar tactics previously? Did they get away with such things before because those stories weren't as minutely scrutinized as the Martin/Zimmerman story?

2012-05-04 10:52:54 PM
I guess lynching is still okay so long as the victim is not a black man. Public outrage should have no influence at all over justice. None.
