I know I've posted this before, but I wanted to make sure that I reach a wide audience.

I volunteer at a local cancer agency, and tomorrow is our biggest fundraiser of the year. I am asking for financial donations to this great agency.

So far the donations from Farkers have been very good, but I am hoping to go back to the well one more time.

My donation page is here.

All donations are 100% tax deductible. The website for the agency is www.ElkhartCancer.org

Again, thank you in advance for your help!

I seen to remember a while ago someone posting about donations to a cancer thing and everyone piling on about it being scammy. Is this the same thing?

This is the third and final time... as I said, I really wanted to reach as wide of an audience as possible.

The first time that I submitted it, I got around $100.00 in donations.

The second time, I got around $175.00.

So, I'm terribly sorry if this is some sort of a horrible inconvenience for you... settle down.

The cancer patients need the moeny more than you need the anger management classes.

No, that was a different one.

That was last year. She was fresh off the "Troubles" so people were HIGHLY suspect of it.

A year ago I posted the same link for the same agency.

It's not 'scammy' at all.

Several people had a problem with the expense ratio of the organization, which, as I have been told, is understandable if you are looking at expense ratios for very large not for profits.

This is a VERY small agency, so the salary of the director may seem high when compared to the income. The agency does run on a shoe-string budget, though.

They are still open if you want to call them - I am not allowed to give out the phone number, but it is clearly posted on their website, which is www.ElkhartCancer.org. The director said that he is available if people have questions.

I hope that helps.

I think that you are correct.

This year people have been much nicer to me about it, and much more generous with their donations.

Wow, I didn't know GD was even Irish, much less involved in the Troubles. My grandmother would be pleased.

Oh, and if you cannot donate, could I ask you to please vote this up?

I would be so happy if this thread were to go green.

It would make my year.

There was another cancer fundraising thread about a week ago, and several people had posted in the thread against the organisation doing the fundraising, saying while they supported the cause, they wouldn't donate through them. I don't remember the thread or the org now but it wasn't that long ago.

I assumed they were talking about that one since it was recent, but I could be wrong, it could have been yours from the past.

YW.

I have examined the most recent 990 filed by United Cancer Services of Elkhart County, found it to be in compliance with IRS requirements, I have reviewed the audited statments and found them to be properly attested and find that the staff and non-program expenses fall well within the acceptable range for organizations similarly situated. I give my unqualified approval to United Cancer Services of Elkhart County and in doing so indemnify all donors who donate through GD's link should any financial irregularities become evident in the future, or if there are any material misstatements in their audits or filings with the IRS.

Short of cash with all the stuff coming up, but up voted for you. Good luck and good job on knowing the right information to provide to potential donors.

RexTalionis: Didn't you already reach your goal?

Well, the original goal that the computer thingy set for me was $200.00.

Now, I've tried to change it to $500.00, which is closer to what I would like to raise, but the page won't seem to let me - see the first sentence that I wrote on that page.

That being said, cancer patients can always use the funds, so the more the better.

/would give anything for this thread to go green

Nope, because I am not this person. From those of you that are curious, there is an article about this woman on the main page. She took donations for her supposed breast cancer from co-workers, and got a boob job.
