(Huffington Post)   Romney on today's anemic job report: "We should be seeing 500,000 jobs a month." Reality: there have only been 4 months in the last 50 years with that kind of growth   (huffingtonpost.com) divider line 197

So you now admit a member of the Obama administration, namely Joe Biden, was talking out of his rear when he claimed Obama's policies would result in that?

Funny, I don't recall Huff Post jumping to denounce Biden for making the same claim.

This tactic, of course, is right out of their failed 2008 play book...

Playing the expectations game is a time-honored tradition of politicos. When setting expectations for yourself, the idea is to go low -- so that even a middling performance can be spun as an achievement.

When setting expectations for your opponent, the idea is to set them high. So high they can't be met.

Thus, see the McCain campaign memo just sent out to reporters. By their standard, if Obama does not magically become president of the United States at the end of the Democratic convention, his performance will have been a failure.

Well, not quite. But they do set the bar pretty high, predicting a 15-point poll bump for Obama.

I'm on the sh*tter. And I found this link after ten seconds slaving away over a hot search engine.

They really are desperate in Camp GOP, huh.

I don't remember you making a valid prediction any time in the last galactic revolution, and we denounce you all the time. Yet that hasn't shut you up yet.

Romney has the sort of connections where with a few phone calls he could personally have a had in creating if not 500,000 jobs, then a significant fraction of that many. That he hasn't done such a thing speaks more to his character than anything he has thus far said.

No, because he's Mexican and a tax-and-spend liberal Mormon.

The Federal Reserve deliberately maintains at least a small surplus labor market. The spectre of full employment makes economists very queasy about inflation.

what happened to the Summer of Recovery from the previous year?

None of that matters. Obama just has to remind everyone of the fact that he nailed Bin Laden.

Election over.

they will NEVER do this. the media favors romney and the GOP by a mile.

even today on NPR, i was hearing a story about how most of the ads so far have been by superpacs and how they're 70 percent negative (vs 90 percent positive this time in '08). they failed to mention that 90 percent of the superpac ads are from GOP-leaning groups. but, no... their narrative is that "both sides are the same."

NPR is useless. False equivalencies and lies of omission. Democracy Now still tells the truth, but you have put up with some serious shrill.

I agree. They don't seem to give two shiats about "fair"... they just tell the story... as monotone and boring as they possibly can.

Laying out the facts (as best they know them) only seems biased if the facts don't paint your favorite team/political party/etc in a good light.

Why is that level of growth such a bad thing?

We've seen how crippling manufacturing on every level has worked out and maybe once we take the brakes off, (Obama's newly empowered EPA mostly you dipshizs), then we can see how our country can thrive again!

Wouldn't it be great again if somebody needed you in the workforce and if your house didn't keep going down in value?

I paid my house off 12/08, Obama is effing me way less than he is effing you guys. Yeah, I lost value but my house is still a nice house and it's PAID FOR, lol. You chumps can continue fellating Obama and pretending you live in a house that's paid for.

b.) Returning to the Bush-era economic policies that brought us to this in the first place?

Tell us, Romney.

its called

ballanced budget

get it?

So you say it was under Bush? Please expand and explain. Preferably with some facts.

first you cx Obamacare... save 1 Trillion

now thats a start, you want more?

Expand and explain how that saves a trillion? Pulling it out of your fat ass? Closing emergency rooms? Death panels?

Ummm, that the low estimate, even the CBO says Obamacare is a sink hole for money

shiat 1 trillion why not 2 trillion since your posting crap, where is your evidence or even a link to this cbo

Except, my wife's business made about $50,000 more in 2011 than in 2010, and is on track to make $50,000 more this year than in 2011. My business income remains the same. We have no interest in going back to Bush era policies, which Romney champions.

If the American voter is fooled by the culture of utter nonsense sold by the GOP, America will get what it deserves - more war, more debt, fewer jobs, a disappearing middle class and the associated cuts in education/social mobility that go with it. The GOP is about one thing and one thing only, capitalizing the public.

fact check what?

what did he say that was a lie?

if we want a recovery, 500k jobs a month for a while will get us there. How else do you get to 4-5% unemployment?

you can get there with 499k jobs a month or with 342k jobs a month, but he didn't say that unless you have 500k you don't have a recovery.

as for the historical data, people do know that the population in the US has doubled since 1950 and up about 75M since Reagan, so 500k/month jobs is not unreasonable.

So, basically, mass abortions are the path to economic recovery? I...approve.

As a result, two of our suppliers are shutting down, 68 more. That's just one branch of this towns burning tree. It's bad enough there are no jobs left here, it's about to get a lot worse.

Now I also have a sad.

The only way we will get 500k jobs in a month will be when apple brings back all of their manufacturing jobs to the US. That or congress puts a high tariff on anything that is made overseas and imported into the US from US based companies.
