Abe Vigoda will walk along the melted-glass corpse of the American coast - her water boiled off, her atmosphere blasted away by solar winds. There he will sit when the sun, red and bloated in its death throes engulfs the withered husk of our beloved home.

And he will laugh.

Because his Long Wait is at an end. He will jab a withered finger into the sun's distended Photosphere and cackle madly as he utters the words he's been waiting so long to say: "I beat you, you farker!"

And the sun will weep as Abe's laughter rings through its Convective Zone.

steamingpile: So veganism is not a defense for cancer, no surprise.

Seems some of this is his fault since he was going to Tibetan doctors, was that because of his religion? Stupid move.

I'm so glad there's someone in this thread who has read up intensely and completely on Yauch's battle with cancer, and know absolutely everything he was doing to combat it. It's a shame to hear, from someone with such intimate knowledge, that Yauch was not receiving any other kind of treatment besides a new diet from someone in Tibet. And it's a shame that a dietary change, no matter what his reasons, couldn't possibly have made any difference at all what was left of Yauch's live, and that making some change, any change, had no chance of having even an emotional or psychological effect on how he dealt with facing death.

I'm so grateful to you, steamingpile for the deep thoughts, personal sensitivity and extensive knowledge you bring to every discussion on Fark, whether it's spouting off pointlessly about trivial facts surrounding the death of a musician, or spouting off pointlessly about how the color of someone's skin plays a role in their behavior.

You are a true treasure of these threads. Thank you. Sincerely, thank you.

And then Paul's Boutique came out, which really was the best thing ever.

And the album that no one bought until years later.

I love people who claim to have loved it, if they had bought it then it wouldn't have been thought to be a commercial flop prompting them to work harder making him ignore his medical needs and letting this go unchecked.

queezyweezel: Lets get this thread rolling by telling your favorite Beastie Boys memory.

I saw them 3 times and they always ripped the roof off...but the best was Lollapalooza 94 at Sandstone in Bonner Springs, KS. They played a high energy set and killed it. The left the stage to cheering. The Smashing Pumpkins come on and Billy is being is typical douche bag self and yells at the crowd. He gets hit with a super ball and leaves the stage. The whole entire crowd goes nuts throwing cups and whatever else into the air chanting "Beastie Boys! Beastie Boys! Beastie Boys! Beastie Boys! Beastie Boys!"

Billy walks back out and we booooooo.

The absolutely owned it that night. It was incredible. I was in about the fourth row stage right. Made eye contact with all of them.

But on a lame night, I stayed after a different show and tried to get their autograph and they blew us all off and told us to leave. I saw MCA through the door window. Come on man. Even had a Beastie Boys sticker on the back of my Fleetwood S-10 Blazer.

But I ain't even mad.
