I made it about 20 seconds in.

2012-05-04 04:07:42 PM
the f*ck was that?

Babwa Wawa: the f*ck was that?

People did a lot of drugs in the 70's.

Oddly fitting that brother and sister play (unknown at the time) brother and sister.

Evan McGregor? Really? Renton is disappoint, subby.

As an old Farker, I can remember watching this as a kid and being amazed that they had the real C-3PO and R2-D2. And when I went to school afterward, that's all ANYONE was talking about.

LesserEvil: Oddly fitting that brother and sister play (unknown at the time) brother and sister.

That, and Donnie and Marie also had a disturbing sexual undercurrent.

/remembers not being sure if they were brother and sister, or husband and wife

I was prepared to watch it but then he started singing.

2012-05-04 05:03:45 PM
The fail is powerful in that skit

Yup, embarassed to admit it. And kind of scary that Donny is the better dancer

Hah! I had precisely the same experience. It's safe to say that Star Wars hit us all pretty squarely in the 10-year-old male demographic, though.

I still find old D & M routines like this both creepy and strangely hot. I have the weirdest boner right now.

2012-05-04 05:21:18 PM
The last time I saw that was when it was actually aired when I was a young kid, and I see it is indeed just as embarrassingly awful as I thought it was back then.

2012-05-04 05:22:05 PM
Hmph.... Is that canon?

2012-05-04 05:32:45 PM
That was AWESOME!!!

I, too, am an old Farker who remembers when this first aired. I was mostly just staring at Marie, though

2012-05-04 05:33:51 PM
I got through the first two and half minutes, and then I just couldn't do it anymore. It just hurt too much.

2012-05-04 05:41:07 PM
What happened to you Kris Kristofferson, you used to be....not cool?

Her exquisite miniatures are both pokey and hypnotic in her Leia dress. Mmmmmmm exquisite miniatures *drool*...

AshCampbell: Evan McGregor? Really? Renton is disappoint, subby.

The sad part is, I looked it up to make sure it was "Alec" with a "c" and McGregor without a "Mac".

I'd still hit Marie.

2012-05-04 06:24:38 PM
I could only watch a minute of that, is this like a porno or something?

2012-05-04 06:25:44 PM
UaaaaggahhhHH! I remember this! I remember when it aired, and everyone was all "OOoh, Star Wars stuff! We have to watch!!!"

Then, of course... we did watch.

Horrible, but not quite as horrible as the Star Wars "Thanksgiving/Holiday" special. But horrible.

2012-05-04 07:06:00 PM
It was ok until Donnie Osmond opened his mouth.

It wasn't our fault! We only had three channels back then and Wonder Woman wasn't on Fridays yet.

Now they've got 500 channels and people are watching oopma loompa douchebags and rednecks selling used crap to each other

2012-05-04 07:15:07 PM
They nailed the 'kiss' part, a little too good.

2012-05-04 07:17:17 PM
As if all the Star Wars crap didn't suck enough...

2012-05-04 07:27:58 PM
I think I saw something just like that at Universal Studios (LA) in the '80s. That sucked too.

/I'll take Paul Lynde to block.

2012-05-04 07:39:14 PM
Heh, Donny's wearing heels.

2012-05-04 08:30:03 PM
I am afraid to watch this.

2012-05-04 08:37:53 PM
Marie had a pretty nice rack, back then. I would have hit it.

/can't believe how bad that was, and that I used to watch the show regularly

2012-05-04 08:59:09 PM
Those stormtrooper-ettes had some pretty hot costumes......

just sayin....

2012-05-04 09:01:42 PM
I was little when this came out, had a mad crush on Marie...

Come to think of it, she was kind of like the Taylor Swift of the 70s

2012-05-04 09:03:03 PM
Also love that Paul Lyndes Imperial Officer uniform has an old cheap watercolor paint set on the chest....

2012-05-04 09:12:21 PM
That was totally the voice of Tony the Tiger coming out of Vader!

2012-05-04 09:23:45 PM
Luke, you big dumby.

2012-05-04 09:42:47 PM
Im more of a captain and tenille man myself.

/still would hatefark 70's marie though.

2012-05-04 10:41:02 PM
Marie had a nice set. I wonder if Kristopherson was hitting that...

I. M. Foreman: That was totally the voice of Tony the Tiger coming out of Vader!

Thurl Ravenscroft. Also the singer of "You're a Mean One, Mr. Grinch" and "Grim Grinning Ghosts" in Disney's Haunted Mansion. The ride, not the movie.

Fark Me Runnin: I'd still hit Marie.

I'd fit her with a restraining bolt.

holy fark the seventies were super-ass gay.

2012-05-05 12:05:16 AM
You know, Chewy and Paul Lynde were alone in that rocket for a suspiciously long time...

Unshavenhelga: Marie had a nice set. I wonder if Kristopherson was hitting that...

He'd have to get in line behind Andy Gibb. He got her first.

Fark Me Runnin: I'd still hit Marie.

Even with her little problem?

DansLaLuna: Yup, embarassed to admit it. And kind of scary that Donny is the better dancer

As if there was ever any doubt.

Serial: As if there was ever any doubt.

omg....that green screen is BEGGING for After Effects!

2012-05-05 02:34:18 AM
I remember watching that as a kid. Nothing has changed... I would have given Marie the most disappointing two minutes of her life then, I'd give her the most disappointing two minutes of her life now. And yea, I'm being an optimist with the "two" minutes part.

Mentat: Babwa Wawa: the f*ck was that?

And THAT is why the variety show is now extinct as a format in American television.

Dr.Zom: What happened to you Kris Kristofferson, you used to be....not cool?

Actually, he WAS doing a lot of drugs (and alcohol) at the time so that may explain part of it. (He was also plugging his then-upcoming movie with Burt Reynolds, Semi-Tough.)
