Similar to the King Kahuna at Kennywood. None of the twisty stuff, though. Link

When I was a kid I went to an amusement park and got on a ride that made me almost vomit. Ever since then I've been deathly afraid to go on thrill rides not because of the ride, but because I'm afraid I'm going to yak and embarrass myself.

This.... however... this.... this I would have to think very hard about before getting on even if I didn't already have that unfortunate mental block to begin with.

They have those in the US. I saw one at the Florida State Fair like 2 years ago.

The Florida State Fair rules! Good junk food and you get to pretend you're the Jane Goodall of white trash and ghetto residents.

That ride is called "The British Nanny".

I'd have to be shiatfaced on two Balkan vodka bottles before getting on that ride...

That's putting a lot a faith in some universal joints. I don't see how any safety redundancies could be engineered in that thing.

Wait for the "Mass Casualties at Russian Theme Park" story in a year or two.

At first I was like: Is that supposed to happen?

But then the engineer kicked in: Gee, I hope they keep up on the maintenance schedule for those U-joints.

It's Russia, chances of that are close to zilch

no.

No, you really wouldn't want to be, and neither would anyone sitting around you . . . and neither would the people on the ground within 50 yards.

Well, how else do you think I'd be able to suppress my self-preservation instinct then? The only way I am getting on that is if I'm heavily drunk and I go "Hold on this for a sec and watch this"

Looks like something Doofinsmritz would have come up with and called the Pukeinator.

This looks like it'd be rather fun. I've been on something similar, only it didn't have the ability to have each 'arm' function independent of each other like this one.
Pretty damn awesome IMO.

Saaaaaaaaay Wuuuuuuuuuuuut?!? I would never get on that thing. It seems unnecessarily risky.

Yes, but in Russia chances are the u-joints are milled from 3" steel plate, when 1" would meet the required spec. Having worked with Russian tractors for a while, i've gained a whole new appreciation for "structural overkill".

What's the ride called?

"You Didn't Want All That Change In You Pocket Anyways"?

Я бы обосрался.

at least you get your money's worth. Most amusement park rides in the UK give you minute of intense nausea at a time, tops

You can never have too many tags for the youtube search, just like you can never have too many complicated moving parts in your shoddily assembled fairground rides.

You know, I started the video and said, "Bah, we have those here. There's one at Dorney. Big deal."

Then I kept watching it.

Now I have to vomit.

I'm not sure what compelled me to recheck this thread but since I was bored and you posed a good question I am now an expert on carnival and fair rides thanks to the Googles.

Soriani & Moser make "The Maverick" which is what the ride in the video is Link

The one I saw at the state fair appears to have been the one that travels with the Blue team from Reithoffer Shows (yeah, that doesn't help but figured I'd throw it in there)

Side note, look at this variation from a Niagra carnival where the seating is different
Link

And here's another variation

Enough of the carnies, I'm gonna go get drunk. Cheers!

I always wanted to open a theme park that was man vs machine.
Now I want an amusement park that caters specifically to bored people.

When did Six Flags open a location in Volgograd?

That looks like it could handle about four Americans.

"Pffftt. I've seen those all over. What's the big...HOLY F*CKING shiat!!!!"

Then the geek part of my brain kicks in and wonders what the calculations for the stress on the joints look like.

There are so many ways that thing could fail.

Starting with Russian carny + vodka.
