That's silly, but we should celebrate. We should have some sort of party. Some sort of...silly party.

Put him on top of a TV, the problem will be solved right after "The Death of Mary Queen of Scots".

To play to the sterotype, a completely anonymous individual with a furry fetish is several degrees more trustworthy and respectable than the average politician.

thats great. over here a judge would rule him unconstitutional or whatever and pass the win to some whiny jackass.

Lib Dems were too busy eating shrooms in the forest to campaign at all.

I thought Dick Cheney wasn't allowed to run for office in the UK.

Yes... because who the hell is going to vote for the Lib Dem's now they've shown themselves to be ineffectual toadies to their Conservative masters?

Might as well vote for the dude in the fur suit, at least his yiffing will be somewhat entertaining unlike the dry anal rape other people seek to give the electorate.

Don't forget the repeated tazings and ensuing arrest.

Professor Pongoo is an independent candidate in the Pentland Hills ward for the City of Edinburgh Council.

Who cares what the results are of some mental institution's "election"?

Misleading headline is misleading. The penguin didn't defeat anyone, and came second from last. The Liberal Democrats and green Party came lower.

For US readers, the UK Liberal Democrats are in a power-sharing scheme with the conservatives...

He would of lost if the giant electric Penguin Party had run a candidate.

Would that not be third from last?

Well, that was pretty pointless. It's kind of a stretch to get "National political party defeated" from "Some amusing guy got more votes than the party guy who would have lost anyway, and didn't win himself."

Translation for Americans: "The guy in the tin foil hat got more votes than the Republican for the San Francisco city council." Faintly amusing, but not politically important.

Tru dat. Had to stop using flashblock because some jackass in IT scripted the "intro page" to our database in flash, and the elements won't even show up to unblock manually, so when something starts autoplaying I'm always surprised.

Indeed although the BNP loosing all their council seats is BOTH faintly amusing and slightly (very slightly) of political importance. We got rid of the Nazi's... erm... yay us!

He did not win. The three seats went to other parties. The funny thing is that he got more votes than either the Liberal Democrat candidate and the Green Party candidate.

For government elections we have The Monster Raving Loony Party, which is reasonably silly. I saw this guy yesterday during the day - I would've given him a share of the vote (proportional representation), but he wasn't standing in my ward. He was quite personable, as political penguins go; very polite, and not too fish fixated.

Only in the UK is the future leader guaranteed to have to stand next to a member of the Monster Raving Loony Party on the night of the election as the votes are announced.

It never gets old.

Rebranding mainly, at one point they were sending out the right messages to attract a certain type of voter, usual patriotic nonsense that can be very attractive... until you realise it's the Nazi's after a rebranding.
