I think there needs to be a little better distinction between "remake", "adaptation", and "reboot".

NuttierThanEver: Bring back Moranis as Mushnik and put back in the Mushnik and Son number and I am ok with this

I played Mr. Mushnik in a middle school production of Little Shop. I agree with you entirely about bringing that number back. It was my one highlight!

Really, there's no point to this. The original was a great flick. How the hell do they expect to top it?

As long as they bring back Jack Nicholson I'm okay with this.

2012-05-03 09:54:43 PM
Whatever. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I will watch it.

Yep. I'd watch him if he played Seymour, Audry, the dentist (Dr. Scrivello), or even the damn plant.

Unfortunately, Mr. Moranis has retired from acting.

Well, okay, I guess...just as long as they don't do a reboot of The Wrath of Khan.....

JG-L hasn't stretched is great comedy muscles in a while. He could totally pull this off.

If I hadn't farked up my post I'd have concurred with that :P

That said, they need to leave my childhood nostalgia for the musical alone. Sweet, sweet nostalgia (and yes I'm aware that a musical about chopping up a body and feeding a plant with it are very strange for a ~8 year old; somehow my mom thought this was ok).

So, Zooey DeChannel will be the big plant, then?

Boomstick Comics should really rebrand itself as Reboot Movies.

/this is like the third reboot announcement in as many days from that site

2012-05-04 12:33:28 AM
Not sure if want.

The Moranis version is still nigh-perfect, but I do like JGL.

2012-05-04 12:38:53 AM
I care not how fine JG-L is, he should have the sense enough to stay away from a project like this. EVERYBODY should stay away from a project like this.

/when she belts out "Suddenly, Seymore!" it gives me chills.

Wasn't "The Original" already a remake of a black and white film?

This is is a reboot of a reboot?

2012-05-04 12:42:27 AM
Why does Hollywood insist on rehashing the dumbest IP's from the 80's, and ignore the most popular 80's IP's!? Where are the film rehashs of:

Fantasy Island
with Peter Dinklage as Tattoo and the guy who played Machete as Mr. Rourke
Love Boat with Patrick Stewart as Capt Stubing, LeVar Burton as Isaac, the guy who played Worf as "Future Worf From An Alternate Timeline", and Shia Leboof as Gopher
Three's Company with Jack Black as Jack, any available AH's as Chrissy and Janet, and Gary Busey as Mr. Roper

The original? You mean the one Roger Corman shot in a day, the one starring Jack Nicholson?

Or do you mean the one with Rick Moranis and Steve Martin, the one that was a great flick? Because that one was a remake.

It was an adaptation of the stage musical which itself was a "remake" of a very bad movie, albeit a so-bad-it's-good movie. Remakes of crappy flicks are one thing. Remakes of good movies are something else.

I could stand to see it as a bit more horror, a bit less comedic/campy/just plain wierd.

Not sure if that's possible, it's a pretty ridiculous premise.

It isn't a series. It's not a reboot, it's a remake. Entertainment sites are full of idiot writers.

If they're remaking the musical, I'm okay with this as long as they keep the orignal ending.

*** SPOILER *** (for the three or four of you who didn't already know this)

Audrey dies after being chewed on by Audrey II. Her dying wish to Seymour is that he feed her to the plant, so that he can water it and tend to it and still be close to her and she can be...wait for it...somewhere that's green. Seymour does just that, but then right after meets the salesman who proposes taking cuttings from the plants and grow thousands of Audrey II's. Seymour, figuring out that was the plant's plan the whole time, tries to kill it but only manages to get himself eaten. It is supposed to be a morality play after all, and Seymour did allow two people to die so he could get what he wanted. Needless to say, test screening audiences didn't like the ending, so they reshot it. Today, people are a bit more cynical. And since most people by now have either been in, or at least watched, a high school production of it, the original ending is fairly well known.

Is there any chance Zooey DOESN'T get the part of Audrey?

2012-05-04 10:27:03 AM
So...JGL as seymour, Christina Hendricks as Audrey, that gollum guy as Audrey II, Bill Murray as Mushnick (he's been in both LSoH movies), and Justin Timberlake as the dentist.

I'd check that out.

/unless they get NPH as the dentist. That'd be better.
