yobbery: Pollexter: D'oh, how could I miss the 2nd post, sorry yobbery! I still think this quote from that scene works better though. :)

Well done! Yours was actually my first idea and it does fit the scene better. I felt 'Ship out of danger' would be more easily recognized (it's been done before.)

Thanks! It makes sense that others have gone here before, considering how much my own kittehs try to high-five each other through windows. I figured there had to be other similar photos that brought this out in geeky minds. :)

Wow! Another beauty! I hope someone is keeping track of all of these wonderful poems.

Also busy doing sewing things and wishing I was in NY sitting in Carnegie Hall listening to my sons' choir sing!

Yeah, I know....it is bad but it made me laugh. I wish I had gotten a shot of Hermie when he moved away from Robin's butt. Oh well, I am sure this will occur again.

Heehee! It needs this caption" and what did you have for dinner?"

fajitas. and sangria. Yeah, I made both of them.

I've just been having fun taking pictures of the cats and dogs today. They are fun to take shots of and I need some photos for my 2013 calendar (I do the photos all year and then decide which will be used).

And I am waiting for the moon to be high enough for me to see it. I am not staying up till midnight for the full effect, but I want a few pictures. Just a few.

too much cloud cover in the east to catch "supermoon" moonrise-but the overhead is clear so maybe I'll get to see some meteors tonight-about 4 am (yawn)

yobbery: Thanks for the good vibes everyone.

I just skimmed the thread quickly. I'll catch up properly in the morning....I'm beat.

Wolf has stones and needs surgery. Of course they only do emergency surgeries over the weekend so he'll be in the hospital until at least Tuesday. We just went to visit him with treat offerings and it turned out to be a nightmare. The tech brought him into the room and he was wiggling all over the place trying to get away. After about three minutes with us he still didn't settle down so we had the tech come in to take him back. He got away from the tech (he's a big strong boy) was caught halfway down the hall on his way out of Dodge. He pulled out his IV but fortunately not the catheter.

The comic take away here is he fought us for the entire time but still managed to take nanosecond pauses during the fracas to gobble down treats one at a time. I'll have a good chuckle over that once he's safely back home....poor little bugger.

They just called to let us know they got everything back in order and he's settled down in his cage. We'll probably go see him again before Monday but this time they'll take us to him. At least he's just down the street.

Personal witching hr approaches. But before then, wish to remember to compliment dahmers love zombie on what looks like a bobkitten in the lap of a human female likely known to him. Cute & semi-cuddly now, but gonna have Big Fangs & Claws when he/she gets a bit older.
Also pleased to see voties racking up!
Re what TheIceQueen typed shortly above, who needs lipstick when ya got red paint???
Also kitten at desk with tiny computer is rapidly becoming its own meme, infinitely captionable & -worthy.
C U Good Folx on the morrow, not the one due in 2 hrs. I also get to try another Aussie EchoLink net -- slept thru last one, couldn't do the math right. It was at 1 AM local.
Plumbicon also actually managed to program my FourtuneCookie Wuoxun handheld dual-band radio so I can actually access our local club repeaters!! Just in time for Dayton, where I'll only need simplex anyway.

Depending on what flavour of Wouxun handheld you have, KG-UV Commander is far and away the friendliest tool I've found to program them (doesn't yet work on the KG-UV6Ds yet, but it does on pretty much all other Wouxun kit you'll tend to find Stateside from reputable dealers).

As for programming dongles, most places that sell Wouxun kit sell them, or you can find USB programming dongles for Kenwood handhelds that are actually 100% compatible :D

(Why yes, I has one of those little Wushu Boxes myself :D Cheap and work surprisingly well...)

DoomsDayAardvark: I has another sad to report this week. Yesterday morning, my girlfriend's cat Venny was hit by a car.

He died in his mama's arms at the scene.

:(

so sorry :(

Your_Huckleberry: These are our girls.

This photo was taken about a month and a half ago during their visit to the vet. They are both gone now.
They were considered older cats, both were rescue kitties and both had health issues. The black cat was really never the same after this visit, she just faded quickly away. Stopped eating, stopped really doing anything. Within a week, we took her back to the vet, there was no light left in her eyes and it was her time.

And it sucked.

Two weeks later, we're told the white cat needs fluid injections every day. She is no longer eating very much now, either. At first, she seemed to be responding to the treatment. But then, after a week of treatments, she stopped eating completely. On Friday, the vet prescribed appetite enhancers. No effect. By Sunday night she was barely walk. On Monday, my wife finds her at home with a bloody nose-she'd probably fell on her flat little face. By Monday afternoon, she's back at the vet on last time.

A month and a day after the first, they are both gone. The white one had been with my wife longer than I have, they were a packaged deal. It took the black one months to warm up to us. We got her to be a 'buddy' to the other one, though it seemed that they more tolerated each other then actually cared. We joked that the little white devil probably didn't even notice that the other one was gone. Given how quick her own health changed, I don't know what she noticed of anything. But we did.

Losing two in a month powerful sucks.

[i1161.photobucket.com image 640x478]

So sorry for your loss too. Losing one is bad enough. Losing 2 in a month really sucks!

So sorry to hear about all of the sads this week :( It's so hard to lose a loved one, fuzzy or not. I have some new pics to share this week (I have to load them firstly). The cats are being all sorts of cute and goofy. Went to the top of Lolo Pass today with the guy and took pics of all the snow up there. Then watched "Unforgiven" and some Veggietales. It's been an interesting day. Sitting in the truck messed up my back, so I've been taking it easy. **HUGS** to everyone who needs/wants them!

KKSimone: Thursday was my first day at the Richmond SPCA Kitten Nursery. It's more like kitten daycare--people fostering bottle babies can drop them off during the day. If you're in the 804, you won't have to choose between fostering very young kittens and having a job (well, if you work M-F).

Firstly, condolences to those who've lost a furkid.

Secondly, anyone know if there is a limit on how much malt paste, on a daily basis, is good for a cat? Mia seems to be going through a shedding spree and the malt paste helps immensely but I've no idea how often to give it to her - the directions only indicate how much, not how often.

Mia, accepting scritches on the balcony..

I don't think I would give it more than twice a day, maybe split the recommended doseage in half, give an a.m. and p.m. dose. Combing should help immensly. Assuming you can get near her with one!

I use wet hands to 'comb' her, it's less blood loss ;) She hates brushes.

I'll do half dose twice a day. The weather has been hot then freezing, then warm, then hot again over the last few weeks: I honestly don't ever recall the cats shedding this much.

Same weather here. Eli gets a fiber suppliment called Vetasyl twice a day, as he cannot tolerate petromalt. So, no hairballs, no poo puddles, its all good!

Oooh. I'll have to look up the Vetasyl (ie, call vet or pet store and ask if they know what it's called here, LOL). Felix wont touch the malt paste. It's so bad he wont eat his food if Mia's bowl is too close to his when we give her the paste. So far, he's had no problems but hairballs are something I like to stay ahead of since they can have bad repercussions.

Try vaseline (pops like a hrbl) once or twice a week. Biscuit hates malt paste but looooves the vaseline (yes, he's a very strange child??) We mix a little in with baby food for him. Licking it right off the spoon just doesn't seem right.

Mia may like it too. If she does then you've just saved a few dollars.

We just received the Wolf morning report.

He's doing fine but he's still a bit stressed. All blood work results are normal. He stopped eating for a spell until they discovered that he's taken a fancy to one particular tech and will eat anything she puts in front of him. I told them that she's simply going to have to work double shifts :o)

We're going to visit him later today. Meanwhile I need to come up with a temporary barricade for the 4'x6' entrance to the man-cave so we can keep him isolated for a few days when he comes home. I need to see what I have lying about in the garage and get creative.

Vetasyl can be purchased from Allivet. Comes in a capsule, you open the cap and put the powder in the food. I know some people use metamucil, 1/8 of a tsp. mix it in..use the unflavored kind. And quick dissolve...

He's having surgery tomorrow and they'll keep him at least 24 hours to make sure he's peeing as he should. He'll come home Tuesday evening at the earliest, but not knowing what time he's having surgery I'm thinking it'll most likely be Wednesday evening.

The Ice Queen: Didn't have a run in with a bobcat (though they're in the area) but did have a run in with a coon a few minutes ago. Had to take some stuff to the dumpster and when I flipped the lid up, it was sitting right there. I cussed and it fell backwards and played dead. Don't know who spooked who more. As a peace offering, I gifted some left over pizza hut :)

Sorry it took me two weeks! Here are the updated kitty pictures. We've weened them all to gooshy food and they're only 5 weeks old! Two of the four are using the litter box proficiently, but we're still having accidents on occasion. We've also found homes for at least three of the four.

Momma recently threw up a round worm, so I had to worm her. Haven't wormed the kittens yet because I haven't found a 5-wk old kitten-safe anti-round wormer. Besides that, there were no eye infections like I thought, just kittens opening their eyes. They are perfectly healthy and turning into rambunctious little brats!
