but astronomers know that conjunctions are nothing more than a beautiful sight and a photo opportunity.

Transits are not conjunctions?

Is Spica the planet we're shipping all the PRs to?

Marysue: This means earthquakes, right?

They are more likely during certain planetary aspects - full moons, conjunctions, eclipses. 5/5 through 6/6 (transit of Venus and another full moon) should bring more.

I knew I was forgetting something.

Do you have ANY idea how hard it is to find a virgin sacrifice these days? Let alone finding one on such short notice!.

Damn, people are still repeating this crap?
Earthquakes are not caused by full moons, conjunctions, or eclipses.
`
5/5 through 6/6 (transit of Venus and another full moon) should bring more.
`
You got a citation on any of that?

Omega Cen fail tonight. Too much haze to the south and too much moonlight. Identified the field correctly, but no trace of the globular in 11 x 80 binocs. M4 wasn't visible, either, so I know the conditions weren't great (although M13 was easy, so much farther north).

iwtb.com.ar

Nothing like a bright globular to remind you why you love astronomy.

Don't sigh! Calmly explain to her why that can't happen! It's not her fault she doesn't know where Saturn is. She probably hasn't had to think about it since grade three (and only then through mnemonics).

See, this is why intellectualism and science are looked down on in this country. If all of us would stop being condescending gatekeepers of knowledge and just be patient and instructional to those who are less informed, civilization would be better off.

/don't roll your eyes either
//or scoff
