Yea, I love that crooked ass smile of hers (yea, yea. there is a smile). Looks like she's real mischievous and it makes me think of Kitiara from Dragonlance.

Why can't people be content with censoring themselves? Why must there always be people that force censorship on others???

Strategeryz0r: Le Bomb Suprize: All this talk about gratuitous sex and double standards and still no ranking of GoT women by hotness? I'll get the fapping list started:

Doreah - The little vixen from Lysene.
Margaery - Playa!
Osha - Clean her up and send her to my room.
Melisandre - Would her necklace glow if she swallowed?
Daeny - Qarth version, not "in dire need of chapstick" version.
Sansa - DISCLAIMER: only if she is 18+
Cersei - Not absolutely sure I'd awake the next morning.
Shea, Ros, Yara - sharp knees, gym in 26 minutes etc.

Pics for those who haven't seen these women would be appreciated :P

Daeny easily shot to the top of the list when I saw the actress with her (natural) dark hair - good lord that women is gorgeous.

Serial: I'm willing to bet that if HBO cut all the brothel scenes, all the people complaining about them would turn around and say "Where do whores go?"

*Golf clap*

The Stealth Hippopotamus: They just wont use the nick name.

Think so? It's a pretty big part of his character, his legitimization after the RW, etc.
They did talk about John Snow being a bastard quite a bit in the first series, murdering all of Robert's bastards in the second, as in the books...

For possible "where have I seen her before"-folks:
she also played Nymphodora Tonks in the Harry Potter movies.
One of the few females on the show who hasn't (yet?) taken her clothes off, if I'm not mistaken.

/also, Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister just shows why he, despite being blond, totally worked as Havelock Vetinari in Sky's adaption of "Going Postal"

I dunno.. I would have to evaluate the natural dark hair picture. The one posted on the previous page just isn't doing it for me. Something about her face just seems off to me. Not that I would say no in the real world, but if I'm going off pictures and rating them, she's just meh to me.

The most violent scenes are implied, but also pretty awful, like the whole baby stabbing scene. The sex scenes, meh, maybe a little gratuitous but certainly doesn't offend my sensibilities. I've seen much harder stuff than what they show.

The author has obviously never read the books. The scenes all have meaning and convey information.

The translation to video has made the meanings less clear as everything is so condensed but it is there.

Gratuitous sex has been increasing on all of HBO's shows, and frankly, it gets boring after a while. It slows the pacing of the narrative down and I just end up fast-forwarding.

That said, there was nothing gratuitous about Joffrey's threesome with the prostitutes. The scene advanced the narrative by showing just how freaking depraved he is.

tallguywithglasseson: qorkfiend: In the show they're taking a much different route with the relationship between Melisandre and Stannis; there's lots of room to get creative there.

Yea, all the decisions have been fine with me. No major plot points have been changed for the worst, and the subtle changes haven't taken away from the characters. Every time I run into so die hard whining about the little details, I always counter with "Uh, the damn author is the executive producer. Pretty sure they run all changes past him first."

While I'm at it:
if someone wants to see a bit more of that actress, she's done a few porn movies; that caused quite some trouble a few years ago:
she was nominated for and had won the biggest German movie awards for her breakthrough role when Germany's biggest toilet paper Bild managed to find out about her porno past and milked it.

I had imagined her as a straw haired, high school cafeteria worker with missing teeth so it's just a personal issue. Stannis looks nothing like I had imagined him either. But not one change has made me enjoy the show any less. It is in great hands.

its made clear that she channels some sort of power from stannis to create the shadow child, and its stated she "births" it... so really, its made clear what happens. she births a shadow spawn that she created with some of stannis's life force. In the book you can leave it at that and the audience gets it. In a TV show, you have to have that scene because otherwise the audience isn't going to make the connection

Digitalstrange: Rincewind53: Also, the "Women aren't as visual" thing has been pretty clearly debunked for years. Go ask the TFettes if they don't enjoy looking at attractive men.

See any point you thought you made was lost right here.

Sure, they enjoy seeing properly sculpted, groomed and bronzed male physiques, but e-mail a pic of your junk to a random farkette and I guarantee their reaction would be different than the one you would have if a random farkette texted you a pic of their coochie.

Less visual doesn't mean they get no satisfaction from looking, just that it is nowhere near the same level that men get.

Um, the girls you see on tv showing their goods are generally "properly sculpted, groomed, and bronzed female physiques" or whatever the female equivalent of ideal is.

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want pics of just any farkette - just the thin, young, attractive ones. I highly doubt you want pics of some obese woman's furry roast beef sandwich or sagging flapjacks. You might look, but you would then cry for the eye bleach.

Women are just comfortable seeing women naked because they're used to it. If men were shown naked on tv and in movies as much as women were, they'd be just as comfortable with male nudity. I think that men sending pics of their junk to women on the internet are seen as aggressive and perverted and it has little to do with whether the women want to see wang or not.

Also men being naked in comedies is not the same as women being naked in dramas. When women are shown naked it's usually placing emphasis on their sexuality - sexualizing them. When men are shown naked it's usually for comedy purposes and meant to turn off the audience. This isn't because the male body is a turn off, but it's the way in which it's being used that it reinforces this idea that it's extreme to show men naked and it's not sexy at all - which isn't true to those who are actually attracted to men.

I think it actually would do all men a favor if more men were shown naked in movies because it will get women more comfortable with sexuality and make male nudity feel less imposing to those who do feel that way. If we sexualize male nudity, there will probably be more women out there wanting more sex more frequently - at least that's my theory.

Anyway, I'm all for equal opportunity nudity on tv. While I find some of the scenes on GoT a bit gratuitous, I still don't mind it. It's part of the appeal of watching the show. It's like getting caramel on an already delicious sundae.

I don't even know if she does that. There's that scene with the king's blood and the leeches and the fire; I had assumed that's where it came from. In any case, I never got from the books that there was any sort of sexual relationship going on there.

qorkfiend: In any case, I never got from the books that there was any sort of sexual relationship going on there.

well i think the reason is because its not really a sexual relationship. The relationship is about power and salvation and worship and all that. the sex is a tool that is needed by not enjoyed/desired to make the magic work.

and obviously martin is overseeing it, so he ok'd the sex. I personally always got the impression that sex was how she was "taking" stannis's contribution because the imagery evoked when she unleashed it was birth-ish and they're always going on as how she has become stannis's "real" queen (especially in Dance)

the tallness part particularly works. compared to all the men around her, her size makes her look even more freakish.

the pictures of her where she's the only one in them don't do them credit. its like professional athletes, when you see them on the field you don't think they look odd, but then you stick them next to a nromal "man on the street" and you realize their 6 foot 7 and built like a truck

ha-ha-guy: I'd be fine with less sex it got me one battle that didn't appear occur off camera.

It's a lot cheaper to hire a couple of strippers onto the cast than to film an epic battle.

I don't think it's been handled too poorly thus far, with the exception of Tyrion being KO'd comically rather than having actually seen war and participated.

Makes me a little nervous as to how they'll handle his character arc at the end of this season, especially the battle for King's Landing. IMO it's the most important battle to show onscreen, as there's some pretty important things that happen to various character... don't think they could really be accomplished via fade-to-black and epilogue/dialogue.
