Okay, now seeing that Suggs himself is saying that it's only a partial tear, which puts recovery time more in the 6 month time frame. Suggs says he aims to be back middle to end of October, definitely by November.

Wow, Suggs is a doctor too? Apparently he balls hard at everything. Except basketball, that is.

Maybe. But the achilles is one of the worst. He'll be back when his achilles says he can come back and even then maybe not full speed. From your link...

While, the general length of time to full activity following the surgery is four to six months, the average return to playing in an NFL game is 11 months, according to a study presented at the American Academy Orthopedic Surgeons in 2006.

Well... crap.

It certainly sucks a lot, but traditionally the Ravens have gotten over injuries. Even if they play the entire season without him, they've still got the potential to win the Super Bowl... it's just less.

Keeping in mind that I'm not with the team, I had Upshaw penciled in to replace Jarret Johnson.

I know how much you wish it to be true that he'll be back by November, but there is not a doctor in the world that will tell him that, hence my comment on his self-diagnosis of recovery.

So, Jeff Gillooly is on the Pats' payroll?

The full extent of the injury still isn't known; if it's a partial tear then playing this season is a possibility. If it's a full tear, then yes...he'll probably miss the entire year.

...I wouldn't want to bet on the Ravens in Week 4 or whatever it is.

Since Belichick gave the Ravens a good recommendation of Harbaugh when they were looking for a new HC, I'd say it's karma.

Always sucks when a good player gets a long-term injury. Kind of wish i was his tongue, though. That boy don't know how to shut up.

This. As a Steelers fan I have no love for T-Sizzle (and I'm not exactly devastated that my team might not have to face him in all of our games this year), but he's one hell of a player and I do hope he can eventually come back from this.

Yeah, as much as I hate to agree with you on this, I think you're right. ;) I never count the Ravens out of anything - they're too much like my Steelers, IMO. Both tough, smart teams that can grind out wins even when they're banged up and missing key players.

/is it football season yet? :)

Harbaugh's comments were about the *perception* of the Pats championship in the wake of the spygate scandal. There are a ton of fans around the league that believe that Spygate tainted those superbowl wins. Naturally telly-media clipped the quotes and ran with the 'Harbaugh said this' stories. Harbaugh was actually saying 'he won't go outside the rules even a little because he does not want the negative perceptions similar to what the Patriots deal with'.

Goodell is to blame for the fans perception and outrage. Destroying the evidence in Spygate means that there will always be unanswered questions.
