Magorn: Which is lovely heartwarming story the media is focusing on, while ignoring there are another couple billion-odd tons of trash and debris headed for the US Pacific coast in the next little while, which will cause an environmental disaster that will make the Exxon Valdez look like a leaky pen, and we have exactly no plan, and no funding to clean any of it up.

The Tsunami wasn't the real disaster remember, it was Fukushima.

Sin_City_Superhero: Bob16: And when they get done restoring it it will still be a piece of shiat.

Given that they have so many Japaneese bike manufacturers, how common do you think Harleys are in Japan? And it's not just ANY Harley Davidson, either, now is it? It'll be a factory-restored Harley, in Japan. And a very historically-significant one, at that. You may not like Harley Davidson motorcycles, but this one won't be "a piece of shiat". I wonder what the auction value on that thing would be?

Harleys are not uncommon in Japan. I think we had like three official dealers just in Osaka last time I checked. Anybody in Japan who likes bikes and has enough money gets a Harley, just like anybody in Japan who likes cars and has enough money gets a German or Italian car. Japanese marques like Grand Seiko and Toyota Crown are well known as quality products, but there's no status attached to them.

Go to downtown Kobe around Sannomiya station any day of the week and you'll see kids in wife beaters driving 1960s Chevy Impalas with tiny wheels and elaborately airbrushed hoods. You'll think you're in L.A.. If they're not there check out Amemura in Osaka. They just cruise back and forth. There's nothing Japan doesn't know about cultural appropriation.
