I don't disagree with him. I think the insult to the local deli is, in and of itself, a frivolous stupid incident to get worked up about. When viewed in the context of Rmoney being an out-of-touch rich guy however it snaps into focus as further evidence of this image. This little thing is below the level of non-incident, its completely manufactured since Obama stated he used composite characters in the first edition of the book. His contention was that "Genevive was his New York girlfriend" was not previously mentioned and therefore constituted a newsworthy addition to the public record. Despite Obama's purpose prose, the rest of what he says is probably fairly standard literary criticism. He doesn't say anything new, but it's not like he's wrong.
