-this just in-

because Fat Albert did not have a positive attitude, and drank too much "polygamy porter", he suffered a massive coronary failure early this morning. The movie will not be made.

Forest Whitaker is directing this?! FOREST WHITAKER? Oh my gods. FOREST WHITAKER!?

The picture, eyed as a potential franchise by Twentieth Century Fox, is tentatively scheduled to bow summer 2003. Previously, Whitaker directed the Fox pictures "Waiting to Exhale" and "Hope Floats."

Great, another piece of shiat film, which based on those last 2, is guaranteed to be a massive chick flick.

FOREST WHITAKER?! FOREST WHITAKER!?!

2001-11-13 01:27:50 PM
haha, aren't I funny...placing together the words "massive chick" in a thread about Fat Albert. OK, so don't laugh. See if I care.

Still, FOREST WHITAKER?!

2001-11-13 01:28:34 PM
Did everyone else automatically assume that Forest Whitaker was going to play Fat Albert when they saw his name?

Seriously is it actually surprising that they are making all these old tv shows into movies? the majority of hollywood movies suck.

2001-11-13 01:45:43 PM
I hear they're looking at Mike Tyson to voice "Mushmouth".

2001-11-13 01:46:08 PM
Another childhood memory bent over and buggered by those slimey whores in Hollywood...I'm waiting for the "live action Bugs Bunny movie" which I think will signal the opening of the first door of the apocalypse...

Hey JamesBone,

If they do make a Sid & Marty Croft flick, here are some ideas:

- HR Puffinstuff (staring Ms. Lewinsky puffin on my stuff)
- Liddsville (starring an once of prime doobage)
- Sigmond & the Seamonsters (staring my college girlfriend's crotch,... and some guy named Sigmond...)
- Far Out Space Nuts (starring Bob Denver - again. Hey, he needs the work)

I can't remember if it was Mad TV or SNL (probably the former seeing as how the latter typically sucks ass), but one of them did a "Behind-the-Music" type spoof about Mushmouth...I just about shiat myself laughing so hard...

Anyhow, there's been talk of this for a couple of years now, so who knows if it will ever get made. I just hope they don't try to update it. I gotta feeling that a lot of the coolness of "FA" would be lost if they tried to set it in a suburban neighborhood as opposed to the ghetto...

I was gonna say this movie will have no class, but Coondog beat me to it!

2001-11-13 02:30:06 PM
I think I MIGHT go see a full-length version of SouthPark's "Fat Abbot"...

2001-11-13 02:32:50 PM
He was bad ass in "Ghost Dog" tho. Classic.

Also check out "Smoke" with him and Keitel (and
the sequel...IIRC, "Blue in the Face"--unsure of title.)

As for the idea of a Fat Albert movie, it's like school
in the summertime. "School in the summertime?" "Yeah,
no class, you *&@#& &*#$& !!" (Oh wait, that's Fat Abbott.)

2001-11-13 02:37:22 PM
I don't have high hopes for a Fat Albert movie, but the original cartoon is GREAT. Even if the movie were awful, it might have the very positive side-effect of bringing the original shows back into syndication.

Those of you hating on Fat Albert are like nothing so much as a programmatic object devoid of inheritance or library association.

2001-11-13 02:39:48 PM
I just hope Fat Albert doesn't sit around all day eating pudding.

2001-11-13 02:46:34 PM
HR Pufnstuf already WAS a movie.. I remember seeing it in the theatre and it scared the crap out of me.

2001-11-13 02:46:48 PM
I love the old Fat Albert cartoons, as well as a good
bit of Forrest Whitaker's work. That doesn't mean I'm
into the idea of a live action film involving them.

It will get made though, and will most likely bank big,
as will the truly wretched-looking Scooby Doo movie with
Freddie Prinze Jr. as "Fred". Why? Because people are
stupid. (Half of them are even stupider than the average! ;)

2001-11-13 03:00:50 PM
The FAT ALBERT clothes are almost as bad as the Scarface shirts. That pisses me off, I've asked about 12 people that wear the Scarface shirts to name the main character in Scarface, and maybe 3 have got it.

2001-11-13 03:07:35 PM
I'd say Biz Markie should be fat Albert, after all the rappers now make bad movies why not give a shout out to the old school and let them make one

2001-11-13 03:28:35 PM
"Joo f.uckin' wit Tony Montana now, joo f.uckin' wit the BEST!"

The Biz changes everything. I would go see a Biz Markie
Fat Albert movie.
