People who go to religious sites are just more gullable. It makes it easier to get their credit card information through maleware.

This is why we can't teach malware abstinence on the internet. You have to use protection people!

I'm willing to put real money on part of it being directly due to religious sites hiring "webmasters" from within that have no idea what they ought to be doing to protect the site.

I'm pretty sure religion is more harmful to you as a person than pornography so it kind of makes sense.

Nightsweat: I have faith in Microsoft Security Essentials.

DAMNIT!

Actually, MSSE has a better detection rate then most of the other available solutions, but doesn't consume nearly as much in terms of system resources.

Next unfounded anti-Microsoft jab, please.

/Microsoft employee, but my opinions are my own, not those of my employer

The people among our clients who hold records for the largest number of infections are people who are complete rightwing internet groupies. They are on all the mailing lists and go to all sorts of rightwing sites both religious and political. I try to warn them, but they just don't listen. Huh, that explains a lot.

sharkbeagle: This is just more insane bullshiat by HuffPo who's readers think that organized religion is to be hated and feared and exterminated about as ferociously as the Jews they hate. I'm sure they also included a caveat "Except for Muslim websites off course."

Why is it that retarded conservative people (I know, redundant) always bring up "I bet they don't say nuthin' about Mooslims" whenever they squawk their misinfromed (sic) drivel on message boards and comment sections? I see it EVERYWHERE.

1. Most churches don't have much money and their computer stuff is taken care of by amateur volunteers the congregation

2. The types of people who visit religious websites by definition probably aren't exactly the most tech savvy or critically aware people on the planet.

3. Professional porn sites have a business reason to provide a secure experience and the money to make it happen. If their customers get infected, it's not like there aren't five thousand other sites readily available to provide the exact same product.

/ and stop asking me to help you with your church's computer crap
// wallow in your technical ignorance like you do every other subject on Earth

Makes sense. People who visit porn sites probably spend a lot of time online. Church sites are more likely to be visited by grandma. Where do you think you're going to find more suckers?

Trick question, depends on the type of sucker you mean.

The educationally subnormal worship religion, the educationally subnormal set up bad websites, the educationally subnormal are incapable of maintaining a website well, and the educationally subnormal go to bad websites? Can't see the connection there...
