FTA: I hope this doesn't become a reboot, and stays an original film.

Hollywood loves brand names. The odds of this project not being branded with an existing franchise name are slim at best.

That said, I hope it ends up truer to the tv series than that train-wreck of a film from 2005 was.

lol Yeah, because the TV series was some high quality viewing.

You're under the impression that these movies are being made for creative reasons.
They are not.
They are made because a recognizable brand name has a certain guarantee of income. Every decision in Hollywood is someone answering the question "How will this make me more money?"

Hill wants to make a smart action film in the vein of Sam Peckinpah.

Now I'm picturing the Dukes of Hazard in an epic slow motion bloodbath.

They're probably going to have to leave certain things out of this one. I imagine this (above) symbol wouldn't be too well received like it was back in the 80's.

They didn't leave it off the hood of the General Lee in the 2005 reboot.

And, I daresay, there is a significant portion of the audience who will see its
presence as a positive not a negative.

Yeah? Well those people are casualties of the public education system. And I didn't even know they had a reboot in 2005.

That's what was so terrible about the remake. They somehow found a way to make the Dukes more inane, more stupid, more implausible, more everything about it that was bad.

You know your movie is terrible when your best actor is Stiffler.

Every FINAL decision is made by someone with control of the purse strings who is demanding an answer to that question. There are plenty of writers, directors, and actors who are trying to make art within the limits set by their patrons, and they make decisions on all sorts of things without thinking about the money first.

shiat, I'd see that. But he's an out of work stuntman because he's been replaced with all the motion capture CGI. So when he kicks the bad guys ass he always yells, "Suck that, Andy Serkis!".

Isn't this the Zombie Apocalypse I'm hearing about??? Cathrine Bach is now and will always be the only Daisy I will ever need! Why do we need more reboots, rebirths, redo-over-and-over-and...

Nothing wrong with the actress they got to play Daisy in the horrid TV movie from a few years ago. April Scott is her name.

Ok, I never saw the reboot.

Who'd they get to play the General Lee? didn't the TV show use up all the 69 Chargers in the world?

Did they update to some '80s muscle car?

Or were the Duke boys constantly jumping a 30 year old car in the movie?

Saw three of them on the back of a truck in Hollywood shortly after the last film opened. I assume they ran and could be used for a new film.

I think the sun has set on them good old duke boys.

With movies costing so damn much and the entertainment value (even with Daisy) so low from the dukes..

Does anyone really want to see the General Lee jump a creek anymore??

Maybe make it a bit harsher and generate some controversy, give it an 18 rating.. cast Ron Jeremy as Boss Hogg and have him kidnap and molest Daisy in his dungeon only to have the dukes show up for a gangbang.. any scriptwriters on Fark??

//Jessica did look pretty tasty back then

Hopefully, they'll forget they don't own the film rights again and have to pay another studio a huge ransom to release the movie.

Bring back the original cast. See if they can get the Duke boys to squeeze through the window of the Dodge Charger. They can use a hologram of Sorrell Booke. I'm sure Catherine Bach isn't doing anything these days.

you two weren't the only ones. I liked it for a few reasons:

1. I wasn't really expecting much from it, still re-watch it occasionally.

2. I will admit what I enjoyed most about the film were the scenes involving the car and lots of stunt driving. Actually, I think my favorite scenes came from some of the stunt footage of the General Lee just doing a continuous power slide in a round-a-bout for about a minute solid (either from the making of or bonus stuff on the dvd).

3. Knoxville and Stiffler did okay (not great but they seemed to have a good chemistry)

4. Soundtrack was good

5. Jessica Simpson will never look that good again (although I thought she sucked in the movie, acting-wise)

-1) I would have cast Danny Devito as boss hog

Daisy Duke is supposed to have a nice curvy ass, not a nonexistent ass.

Also, Daisy was always the smartest member of the Duke family... Kate Upton is... well... is there a single word that means "really close to being retarded without actually being classified as retarded"?

Because she'd be that word.

it was cute enough, fark off.

I was a huge DoH fan back in the day, but go back and watch it now as a grown up. It's not exactly brilliant TV. The dialogue is bad, the plots are worse. A retro update wouldn't hurt it and if they seem to have farked it up I'll pass on ever watching it. I still have avoided the Starsky and Hutch remake
