Ghastly: I too thought it was a fish until it was pointed out it was a bird. Somehow knowing it was a bird actually made the shirt look uglier.

I thought it was a fish myself.

Also, add me to the "thought it was a fish" camp.

Personally I don't see the point in going on about frivolous stuff like this, and I'm in no way trying to attack Ann Romney or anything like that.

But - that shirt. I did not care for it.

What Ann Romney wears is none of my business. Don't care. But that smile and look--let's just say that's not very connective or flattering.

GAT_00: Car_Ramrod: Rich people buy expensive things. Good detective work, subby. You've blown the case of whether the Romneys have a lot of money wide open.

I couldn't care less what they, especially Mrs Romney, buy with their money. That is not the issue, and you're not helping by posting this crap.

I don't care what she buys either. Doesn't mean I can't make fun of it if it looks farking terrible, does it?

You can, but that doesn't belong in the politics tab.

Her stated role in the campaign is to help Mitt close the gender gap by relating to women in a way that he can't. I think asking if single moms can relate to a stay-at-home mom who throws down a thousand dollars for a shirt is fair game. Or maybe not since she apparently didn't buy the matching pants.

Can Michelle only talk about exercise if she's wearing warm-ups, or can Obama only connect to the Average Joe by wearing suits from Men's Wearhouse? Relating to women doesn't mean wearing K-Mart sweatshirts with Tweety Bird on them.

Pretty much. It is uglier than a bulldog's ass, though.

Bet you a dollar Michelle Obamas wardrobe is more expensive.

She regularly wears outfits costing more than $4000. If you look at money spent on clothing as a percentage of income the Obamas are living like a welfare recipient in the bakery on SNAP card day. Gimme six dozen a donuts.

Bigdogdaddy: Meh. Who cares. 900 to them is like a buck to me. He tied the family dog to the top of his car...and I'm voting for or against him.

Do a GIS for dog in truck bed.

It isnt exactly cruelty to animals, or if it is then 90% of large dog owners are guilty of it. Technically you expose your dog to more risk of harm by letting it ride in your lap....which is half of Florida's population and 30% of Beverly hills.

Not crapping on you, I get what you said, its just such a stupid thing for liberals to harp on. Half their cultural icons buy stunted lap dogs and carry them around in the heat in little glittery dog purses with no water.

Me? If I owned a large dog and had romneys money I would ship the damn dog.

Seriously. That looks like something you buy at Dollar General.

Also damn does that woman have a douchebag "I'm better than you and I know it" smile.

What percentage of your income do you give to charity? How much time do you spend with your kids? Would you give up alcohol just to be a better person? Maybe she is a tiny little bit better than you.

I like birds, but that is an ugly shirt and so are the matching pants.

A well-executed, Audubon-style illustration deserves to be a framed print, not chopped up and put on ridiculous clothes.

2012-05-03 02:24:28 AM
I don't care that she spends $990 on one shirt. I'd spend that much if I liked a shirt and had disposable income to throw around, but I do care that she spends $990 on a ridiculously ugly shirt. That shirt represents a certain sort of bad taste that seems to show up a lot in middle aged wealthy women--they wear hideously ugly prints that seem to exist only so that other people can recognize that it's an expensive item.

That shirt definitely falls into the category of things that prove that "expensive" does not equal "not hideous and/or tacky."

Yeah, they should leave that to the Republicans to harp on how much a haircut costs.

I don't give a shiat about her shirt or how much it cost or Michelle Obama's shoes or how much they cost or whatever partisan cable news inspired games you people like to play to try and fill in the empty parts of your lives. I care more about that phoney smile and every other phoney politicains wife's smile that I've seen in the last 20 years. I care more about the game that everybody is buying into (enthusiastically) just as they do every 4 years; just as they have done every 4 years for the past 30 years. I'm just sick of the bull.shiat...

Since when is Ron Paul the voice of equal rights? He's the voice of "The states can take away all the rights they want just as long as the federal government doesn't."

He's also the voice of the Gold Standard, the voice against women's reproductive health rights (federal personhood amendment. Yea. That was Ron Paul) and he's often the sole crazy vote on totally harmless resolutions.

I hate Ron Paul.

Yup. And the rest of his crazy doesn't seem to bother them.

It's also funny how they treat him, a lifelong Republican, like he's some sort of progressive independent.

The only thing I really respect about the guy is that he'll go up on a stage in front of a bunch of Republicans, standing next to Republicans, and flat out say we shouldn't have our troops stationed all around the world fighting wars we have no business fighting.

Most people I know that like him only know he want to legalize weed, end the wars, and promote civil rights (other than abortion apparently), I don't think most of them know how crazy his views are on economics, basically an ideology that would butt rape our economy and tank our country.

Oh yea, that part's pretty cool. I mean- I'll give the dude this: he is occasionally right. Granted, he gets there through really flawed logic and arrives there by accident, but he is occasionally right.

But the part where he said that women never need abortions for medical reasons... that made me despise him. He's an OB/GYN. He knows flat out that what he said is complete and total bullshiat and he doesn't care.

That bothers me.
